Need Help in picking out Paint colors for our orange brick home.
Comments (6)I had an orangey-peachy house in Baton Rouge, LA and I painted the back porch and door an opposite color on the color wheel - a beachy-seafoamy-light turquoise green. I loved it, but colorful houses are "done" there and this was 20 years ago. If any of your darker bricks go toward the red/maroon spectrum, a cranberry or maroon color could work well for a front door. Comments (14)try using a latex paint remover. you can find it at the big stores. grab a stiff wire brush and a bucket of water. it should work enough so that you don't see it. I photoshopped a few doors/colors/address plaques and lights for you. see what you like. ('cuz that 1950's grandma front door needs to go along w/those shutters!) I like the black option w/copper. the copper will compliment the brick color and the black always looks good w/both I like this door. And, you might think about painting the trim around the windows (did you notice I covered up all your shutters?? looks good huh?) in a darker trim color. gave you this mahogany glass panel door. modern black numbers, a modern chair. I'd paint the other door one of these dark colors, bring in a more modern light. If black is too harsh, think about Urbane Bronze or Iron Ore. both look great w/orange brick. try something modern like this w/the numbers, potted plants, lighting, Here is an orange brick house with complimentary colors and light fixtures. another nice door color is a peacock blue, sage, blue/green, tone soft blue/green with copper and your orange brick always look good Yam color door, bronze light, warm wood and gray tones also work. Here's a door w/natural wood. black mailbox and light (but I like the others above better) are those posts cedar or painted? These color palettes are also perfect w/your brick. (don't forget to paint your side door too....See MoreHow to tone down orange brick
Comments (22)I know brown is a dirty word in our gray world, but this update looks nice. She had gray garage doors and redid in brown that harmonizes much better: https://pinklittlenotebook.com/instantcurbappealwithpaint/ I don’t know this color, but it looks like dark taupe. Looks good with the orange brick and white windows. Unless you’ve always wanted a white house anyway, I would not go through the work and expense (and possibility of it turning out bad ) of limewashing this brick for the reason of being unhappy with other factors. It’s nice-looking brick as is and just needs to be paired with complimentary colors. I’ve seen threads here of posters very unhappy with how their limewashing turned out, and now it’s permanent. Changing your front door color would make such a difference. If budget allows, I’d replace with wood. ETA: I do love the inspo house you posted, sorry I didn’t see it when I posted before. This limewashing looks fantastic. I’m just curious what color the brick was before. It’s a stunner. This I would do! I just wouldn’t do a solid, all-over white or those methods that the house looks like it was in a fire or has a spotty disease. It takes a true talent to look this natural. https://servicefirstpainting.com/2020/02/heavily-distressed-lime-wash-in-mckinney-texas/...See MoreColor for old orange brick house siding help please!!
Comments (10)I agree, it will look top heavy with darker on the top. Lighter is a much better option. Vinyl siding can be painted, but, darker colors will cause the heat to build up and warp the siding. Much better to keep that siding light. You can use the iron ore on shutters and doors, although, for the doors, I would actually prefer something brighter. Alabaster is a good color for the trim. I like the balanced beige for the top. All colors that will go well with your brick....See MoreRelated Professionals
