getting these window treatments right

last month
last modified: last month

This window, as you can see, is not centered. The shades are new and I popped them up on the old brackets. The bed will be moving under this window. There will be a headboard height of a couple inches below the window apron. I'm thinking of leaving the curtain and rod and lowering the shade about 4-6". What do you think?

Years ago, I had a wide curtain rod with drapes on each side, masking/compensating for the off-center window. I can do that again but we may choose to go with asymmetry instead and hang some artwork in the negative space to the right. I didn't love how there were visible details showing (trying to hide) that I was trying to hide the asymmetry. It just seems silly to me, fussy, and we don't mind asymmetry.

I think this is the 4th iteration of window treatments in this room and I hope this one sticks! I love the new shades. Suggestions? Help me get it right this time.
