Is there a rule of thumb for vanity medicine cabinet size?

last month

I am remodeling my primary bathroom and sloping the ceiling from 8 ft on one side to 12 on the other to accommodate a skylight. The basic footprint of the bathroom is small-ish, I have a tub/shower combo which makes it look even smaller, and I am getting a 30" floating vanity.

Are there any rules for the best size mirror (in my case recessed med. cabinet) relative to vanity and ceiling height? Because I will have this high wall to put it on, I was hoping to get a 20" wide by 36" high with sconces on either side, but would a 36" high medicine cabinet somehow overpower a basic, boxey 30" floating vanity? Thanks! I wiah I had photos to show you, but they are still in my brain.
