Paint color for bathroom where you apply makeup?
Comments (11)Half these people don't even understand what you're asking, although it made perfect sense to me and Alicia ^. She doesn't need a color that will flatter her and make her look good in her own fn' bathroom. She needs proper paint color and lighting to NOT reflect and give am untrue image. 10am-2pm, blue sky, sunny day, direct sunlight is the best way to get a true read on pigment. She wants her make up to match her face when she leaves the bathroom. I know you said you didn't like the pinky tones options. however, I have to vouch for that recommendation. I had this awesome little make shift, attics, studio/1 bedroom/efficiency/ no permit "apartment" with roof access from the bathroom window where I could see from the stadiums to center city and the Delaware River to Manayunk. I'm a hairdresser and an artist, I loved alone, had no lease and very little rent. I was able to do whatever I wanted to the place and I really made it cool. I started trading hair services for tools, supplies, furniture ect, anything I needed for the place. My goal was to fix, furnish and decorate it with spending the least amount of money possible. I LOVED that place. I ended up with a can of dark but bright pink, kinda like a rich, deep, bold fuscia. It was gorgeous. I was shocked how true it was to mine and my clients hair color, skin tone, make up etc. And I picked it because I wanted it to be bold and fun and artsy and different, but it really didn't look all that crazy. It was a big bathroom with alot of wall space too. Jussayin'. I know this post is 12 years old, but I came across it asking the same question and that's what I've heard everywhere from people who understand color theory and what you're actually asking. I got annoyed and wanted to add my 2 cents. I hate when people who have no idea what their talking about think they're so dang special they just HAVE to give their OPINION because they don't have the education or skill to give proper advice....See MorePaint color- bathroom
Comments (17)I had an outage so I'm just seeing all the wonderful replies. I'm so grateful for the input. Below is a photo of the Mobe Pearl grout In my photo of the floor tile ( which was just installed). Whoa! Sorry for the large photo, can't seem to edit it. C. Renee asked about gold tones. There will be some from a brass framed vanity mirror and matching sconces (again, yet to be installed). The brass mirror arrived yesterday. The sconces the day before. But I wouldn't call the colors in the vanity top " gold" .see the grout color for a better representation of the vanity top and tones in it relate to that. In my original photo, the grout was not yet fully cured and it did lighten significantly and now blends with the vanity top and almost completely matches the floor, with the grout being just a tad different..in a good way. . I can't seem to get a good photo of the installed tile and grout since the sconces aren't yet installed and the natural light is terrible, practically nonexistent. The Mobe Pearl is What I'd call a very light beige or taupe but you can be the judge. Does it gave grey tones? I'm terrible at discerning those subtleties. To answer a question, the tiles blends with some tones in the vanity top. I have issues with stone vanity tops and stone floors with different, but equally strong patterns so I went for a monochromatic floor, no pattern. I have a rubbed bronze vanity mirror but it's a minor contender at this point. I don't like the dark, heavy look right over the vanity. I thought it'd be an ideal fit with the vanity hardware and wood but it just...isn't.. .So yes, we are mixing 2 metals, with the bronze being the main player.. The mix may seem odd ( or perhaps not) but - having held up the lights and mirror over the vanity - the brass adds a lightness over the dark vanity. . i don't know if the brass sconces and mirror change the paint recommendations. I didn't mention the brass because I had to see the mirror and sconces in the room before making a decision. i do love the look. I searched for "brass and bronze" in photos and did see some lovely examples- both on and off Houzz. I have no idea if I'm breaking rules about mixing metals. If anyone else knows of any photos showing this mix, i could add them to my collection because my online photo album is currently rather small....See MoreWhat paint colour for bathroom

Comments (4)I would recommend a mix of dark, light, and midtone colors, as you have here. However, your dark color is limited to the shower walls, which is a relatively contained space, leaving light floors and midtone tile around tub and vanity backsplash. If you have plenty of light in the bathroom (and I am guessing you do with large windows and a skylight) then I would think you could go with a darker color for the walls. Just be sure it is a color you will be happy with as it will likely dominate the space. Maybe several shades lighter than the darkest tile in your floor, but monochromatic with that and the shower tile....See MoreRelated Professionals
