Nancy we had brought our own food and drink on the boat in coolers. We made sandwiches and dressed them with olive salad, a specialty in New Orleans. It is most commonly used on Muffalettas. This is a popular sandwich in NOLA.We just stopped at the watering holes since the owner of the boat had friends at each place. We went in and looked around and stayed a little while and left. We had lots and lots of wonderful seafood in town when we went out each day. Liuzas has a special bar-b-q shrimp poboy and Jacques imo's has an amazing alligator cheesecake...really really it is FANTASTIC. Dick and Jenny's has fantastic bouillabaise and also the alligator cheesecake. We had fabulous pizza at Mona Lisa and cannoli at Brocatos. We stocked up on olive salad and cheese at Nor-Joes, a wonderful Italian grocery. I think that is all LOL. I was so FULL !! Oh we also of course had beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde in the Quarter. I think that is ALL :)

For those that are interested, I will post a reminder next Saturday. When I get up, usually between 6 and 7, the first thing I do is turn on all 3 radios in the house so no matter what room we are in, we can hear it.

So nice to see someone else out there has spring fever on this absolutely arctic day in CNY! I have a huge pile of catalogs, but need to basically limit myself to 1-2 goodies, plus veggie seeds, as I don't have room for much new and I am rehabbing from a knee replacement so need to just try to get everything looking good this spring. I am opening my garden to the local garden club for a visit, and want it to look fabulous (!?!) so may end up buying a few larger things to tuck in here and there, we'll see. My must-have seed so far is the new "Phoenix" nasturtium. How about you?

At last I have finished Trollope's The Warden and . . . for Sheri . . . who couldn't remember the 'plot' It concerns the warden, kind old Rev Mr Harding, who is in charge of the Barchester 'hospital' ie alms houses for 12 old 'beadsmen' of the city. A young radical hot-head John Bold, believes that Harding is taking too much money as his stipend from the Trust, which should go to the old men instead. People take sides, even the pensioners, not understanding Harding already gives them an allowance out of his own pocket. The London newspapers take up the story leading to innocent-in-the-ways-of-the-world Harding resolves to leave his post and live on a very small amount of money in a tiny parish. Tied in with this is the bossy Archdeacon, the kindly Bishop and the lovely Eleanor Harding who spends too much time, in that rather unhealthy Victorian way, weeping on the bosom of her Father . . . and he on hers.
