Island Light Oak or Dark Rich Tone?

We started refacing our the cabinet maker is going to redo many of the doors since he added a center stile which he didn't communicate well to me and I had wanted plain shaker. At this point I can either keep it dark or go light rift sawn oak. The cabinetry in the rest of the kitchen will stay a light painted color ( BM White Dove as the lightest option or maybe something a bit more saturated) and also chage to shaker door style. I'm worried if I go light it might look washed out but also it doesn't look right to me right now since the stain color is also reading as a cool dark color. He was trying to match the beams but I think we can go a little richer/ warmer more neutral without going red/organge. I'm also not sure if the light wood might look better so as to have contrast with the beams and tie into the floating shelves on the bar area. The dark island is quite dark and the light cabinets are very light and it's all looking like too much constrast? So the question is, light or dark wood for the island. I'm quite torn and want to pick something that I won't regret later and that will be pretty timeless (which I know is pretty subjective).

The last few pictures are inspiration pictures both light and dark islands.

Current color is fairly cool- see my drawer front with purple blue undertones as compared to this pretty brown island.

*also the stool legs can be darkened made more brown to mute the red tones. They definitely look off with the current island color.

Thank you so much for your help!
