Those cabinets in and of themselves are not "kuntry" or even "country". It will be your other choices that determine whether you wind up with that look or not.

The brown wood is making a come back. What you are showing is not from the 80’s which was the grainy oak.

My only concern using wood cabinetry is choosing the floor. If you want hardwood, the undertone needs to be in sync and stain wise either lighter or darker. important to get this right. Then if its‘s open concept, you will need to use this wood throughout.

If you choose a tile, you need ti be mindful of coordinating it with the counter and the backsplash.

Just some things to think about.

IMO the cbinet style is country and honestly the pic you posted tells us nothing about the actual samples of the wood The island looks vertical grain and the hood horizontal how can we tell. I aslo wonder always why wood seems to always want a stin I like a nice natural wood just clear coated .BTW I happen to love walnut and white mixed in a contemporary style kitchen. I need to see actual samples of the whole kitchen done in this choice of wood and some promise from the cabinet company about the grain direction .

That color of wood is very popular right now. It is used frequently with white (or whiteish) counters. eld6161's comment about coordinating the flooring is good to keep in mind. Although you don't like white, contrasting island colors are popular. You don't have to use white. Green and blue are other popular island colors. There are thousands of kitchen pictures on Houzz. Cheap temporary cabinets should never be considered for anyone’s remodel that wants to live there long term.

Well even cheap isn’t cheap these days and most of us should live below our means. Budgets exist for a reason.

Cheap is more expensive in the long term when they do not last, and must be replaced much sooner. Buy quality once, cry once.

I think you can use these fawn cabinets and avoid the Kuntry look through smart styling of hardware, faucets, lighting, backsplash tile, grout, and flooring. The look of these items can sway Kuntry, contemporary, eclectic, modernist, traditional. Does your builder have selections for these items or do you source and purchase them yourself?

Living below your means is a foreign concept these days. Kudos to your for your sensibility. We need more of this.
