I don't remember if I posted either of the first two plans (left, middle) on your other thread, but they give alternate layouts with the fridge on either leg of the L. The plan on the right might be a little 'out there' because I don't know if it would be possible to support the load by moving the points to tie into the island and the staircase newel post, and sistering the ceiling joist. It would take some space from the LR, but would give you a clear walk way. I don't know how it would impact the budget, or the basement, but some of the cabinetry would need to be custom. If you wouldn't mind having the extra posts, you might take the plan to the Building or Remodeling forums (as suggested above) and ask about the support posts before wasting time and money with a contractor. Denise Marchand - thank you for all of your suggestions! We took your suggestion to move the refrigerator to the wall with the other tall cabinets but are keeping the sink and dishwasher in the locations on my original plan - this allows us to have a corner cabinet. We are using ikea cabinets so we are limited to 15" and 24". We are planning on using a gloss, white subway tile for the open walls (full wall) and back splash on the cabinet wall. We also switch to solid oak counters throughout. Do the window's it is hard to add shelving on either side of the sink. Once the wall is bumped out to even it out with the other side to cover the plumbing stack, the wall to the left of the sink only has 5/6"s of depth before the window. We may add open shelving above the dishwasher on the same wall as the tall cabinets and a high open shelf along the wall with the stove as well. We're going to wait till cabinets and counters are up before we make any decisions about adding open shelving. Since we eliminated the wall cabinets we also switched around the light plan. (below). With a 2nd row, we dropped down to 4" lights from the 6". We are somewhat constrained by the water pipes/stack and AC vents that run through ceiling. The tall cabinets will also have counter task lights. The box outline matches which switch they are attached to. We'll will make sure both sets are dimmable. Debating if it make more sense to only have 2 lights in the hall...If we add another light above the dishwasher, it could only be 10" from the wall. Not sure yet. Ideally I’d like to keep some “morning room” rather than make it all kitchen. Just wanting to steal the wall space to the right of the window for the fridge because we’re not fond of the current placement of the fridge. It’s right by the entrance from our garage and mud room and it sticks out so it kind of blocks that area. So thought by moving it to the back/main wall it would be more out of the way. Right now the morning room is just dog crate space and leads to our back deck. We’ve thought about moving the kitchen table/chairs over to the corner if we do the remodel. It’s more casual seating since we do have a dining room on the other side of the pantry. Or maybe a cute coffee sitting area. Former owners had some decor and seating there (MLS photo).

Even with that change, you won't have enough room for seating at the island if you want to keep the cabinets on the refrigerator wall too. Do you need the island seating with the kitchen table right next to it? The easiest way would be to put cabinets or shelves where the knee space is instead. If you really want the island seating, you'll need to reduce the cabinets on the wall there to 12" or so, which will give you a 53" aisle--still very tight (and less than is recommended) for seating, with a not terribly useful depth for the pantry cabinets. It seems like a big cost when the kitchen table is right there.
