Sourcing Affordable Flat Wooden Kitchen Cabinets

Hi, I love the walnut flat panel European style kitchen cabinets, but custom-made are beyond my budget. Do any of you know a source for reasonably priced solid wood kitchen cabinets, RTA is fine too. Thanks!

Comments (12)Chefkev--I've had a link to AHTurf for ages, but I haven't looked at it in a while, so I'll go back and do that. Thanks for reminding me! I've looked at Amerock's web site and haven't found any long pulls that we like, but we used a standard-size Amerock pull in our remodeled master bath, and if we decide to use two shorter pulls on our long drawer fronts, then we'd likely choose the same pull again, so that's one way out of this dilemma. Sheilaaus122--Thanks for the positive feedback on yourhomesupply.com. I've got a link to them, too, and if we decided to double up with shorter pulls, they'll be among the vendors we'll go to for pricing. Boxiebabe--I haven't looked on eBay, but once we settle on a manufacturer and model number, we'll go to eBay to do a search on it as we go through the pricing ritual. I am looking into each and every source that everyone has taken the time to post for me. Thank you! Romy, I do like the edge, it's just a little different than what I originally told the fabricator I wanted (ogee stacked on straight edge). He came to template and installed the perimeter counters the next day. At that time he discussed with me his idea for the island edge (it is only slightly different) and I told him to go for it! I will post pics shortly but the ceilings are being sanded and it's quite a mess right now. Hopefully everything but the backsplash will be done by the end of the week and I will post then. Comments (4)Do you mean shaker style doors or a truly flat slab door? If you mean a slab door then I would lean toward something sleek and modern to complement the modern look of a slab door. Drawer handles at roughly 1/3 the width are visually pleasing ... except if you have narrow drawers (like 12" wide or less) and then I go with "what does my hand fit into nicely?". I think I wound up with about a 4.5" handle on those drawers, just a smidge larger than 1/3 of the width. On drawers that are wide, like 30+", you might struggle to find a single pull that is large enough. I used 8" handles on my 30" wide drawers because the style I liked didn't come any larger - unless I used an appliance pull and those just looked wrong. It looks fine, larger would have looked better but my island has a 30" base, 24" base, 30" base in series and the drawer handles are consistent so it seems reasonable. Comments (22)Ideally, the sink and stove would be on the same wall, with plenty of prep space in between. Or, to a lesser extent, the sink would be in the island, off center from the stove...so to a avoid two people bumping tushes. What you’ve configured, would drive most cooks mad...one usually preps next to the sink. As such, in your plan, the prepped food...chopped/diced veggies, meat, messy chicken, or whatever...will have to be shlepped across the floor, to the stove. That’s very inconvenient, and the floor is going to be an unholy mess. Also, consider having to dump a heavy pot of hot pasta water, and having to walk it across the floor to the sink...an accident waiting to happen....See MoreRelated Professionals

I’m cur curious about the size and layout of your kitchen. Perhaps you could do flat fromt white cabinets with a walnut veneer island, or a walnut butcher block countetop, or just one set of walnut cabinets features somewhere in the room. You truly are going for one of the most expensive cabinets out there.
I get these pics are not your modern style but maybe they will inspire ideas for combining white with a feature moment of walnut.
