Becky, I don't see white spots on the leaf edges nor curled leaves indicating a lack of water. Lack of water is usually seen as wilting of the foliage. And if the white spots weren't just on the edges of the leaves if it were me I'd be thinking of one of the two powdery mildews. Carolyn

Can you post some photos? Also, what sort of soil do you have it in? What's the exposure to light (sun)?

There's over 700 species of Pandanus. Most of the common variegated ones are varieties of P. tectorius although they are usually sold under other names, like P. sanderi, P. baptisii, P. veitchii. Those are synonyms of P. tectorius, one of the most widespread species. Prop or stilt roots are important to P. tectorius because they grow mainly along the shoreline subject to a lot of wind and shifting sand. Some of the variegated forms grow dwarfed but some grow quite large. Cold climate and lack of direct sun would be limiting factors. P. amaryllifolius has a plain green colour, never seen or heard of a variegated one. The fragrance isn't strong but I've never used it in cooking. Maybe the heating process brings something out of it that's not so noticeable in the fresh leaf. Other Pandanus leaves I've crushed haven't had any hint of fragrance in them.

The first thing I always suspect is that my watering hasn't been consistent enough, that they have been allowed to dry out too much between waterings. The leaf edges will show that due to cell death. But I will say that based on the color in your pics they are awfully lime green. If that color is accurate then they could use some nitrogen fertilizer it would seem. Dave
