Camellias in Japan
Comments (6)I recommend the backrun of _The American Camellia Society Yearbook_ (1945-present) as an excellent source of illustrated articles on the old camellia trees that have grown in Japanese temple gardens for hundreds of years. These articles identify the names and locations of the temples as well as the camellia cultivars growing in the gardens, if they are known. This specialized information is probably not yet findable in Cyberspace, but should be available to anyone who has access to a research library. The research university libraries in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, particularly those supporting curricula in horticulture, botany, landscape design, etc., should own the full run of _The American Camellia Society Yearbook_. Look into the volumes published in the forties, fifties, and sixties to find these articles....See MoreBotan.Gardens&Arboreta in Japan you would recommend

Comments (20)Hi Nora teita = is size of business size envelpe wood board. 20~25 cm long ( 8~9 inch long) 10 cm wide( 4inch). right side top, make marking about at 10 cm from corner. this marking to right side bottom corner . you cut off. use shape pointed side to dig or remove small stone, remove small hump. it is most inexpenvive gardening tool. and works every time. if you have 40~ 50cm long board and cut in half . when placeing sad, it is a "must have" tool. flower bed ,palnting shurbs, large trees I always use it. sad fertilizer, other materials: try to find near " nokyo" farmer's coop. sad do not have big demand as in usa. you can ask to gardeners if they can sell it to you. if you see yellowed sad, don't warry . it will be ok. before place sad: scrape top soil and save it side. make several mound , so that you don't have to carry distance. if you can buy sad enough to called "Mekura bari" no space between sad , or buy half of area you need . fill soil between then. soil is expensive too. you scraped top soil shoud save untill all sads are placed. Take gushi: skew will not work . it is too smooth. cut bamboo 5~6 inch long with node. split it about 1/4 ~3/8 wide . smooth end, make it point. end with node now have rough end, rough end will prevent sad shift and hold sad well. when you split bamboo, node is up. to spilt bamboo we use "Take nata" a hachet 6~8 inch long 1 1/2 inch wide with handle. 4~5,000 yen . do not arraid to ask for bamboo. most of owner let's you cut bamboo. specialy for "prety young gaijin" swap with Canadian candy or cocky. you can go back for bambooshoots or some other projectwhen you need bamboos. please do not delay tetunas shot and nihon noen shot. :):):) I have three mothers. mother who gave me birth. a Jewish lady who is looking after me and going to have real Jewish mother soon. it is worth more than diamonds. hehehe I become friend of Thai restaurant owner's family. I baby sit 9 year old girl, 6 year old girl 4year old boy. when I say something to do to 6 years old girl, she say " your are not my father. I am not going to listen to you " then I told her that I am older than your father, when you father is not here , I will act like your father. she now know she is not get anything from me while she is crying. 4 years old boy sleeps in my arm some time . It is geat feeling. .............................. mike...See MoreTravel Insurance for travelling to the US
Comments (6)jasdip - it is getting that I am afraid to leave Ontario. (I live in Toronto.) We have an annual multi-trip out of country/provincial medical/trip cancellation policy that is not cheap - and renews every Sept. I am well aware that each province pays differently - and we are under 65 - not by a lot though - just off. A change in medication - even if you are run over by a bus, can result in the company not paying. It makes absolutely no sense. We also have extra life insurance through the company noted in the Marketplace expose - funny, I never watch Marketplace and neither do many of the people we know, but I guess everyone was flipping chanels and everyone saw it. It is very true - I have seen their medical form since they send it every year trying to sell us more insurance - my doctor wouldn't be able to fill it out. And if you call, as the program pointed out, you do not speak with a licensed insurance rep - you get someone who has absolutely no idea what would happen if you died of something totally unrelated to something they think you "lied" about. One section asks if you have experienced - even once - basic things - a migraine, a UTI etc. So what, you were run over because you might have had a headache? Hard to lie when you didn't even know about something. Same with the travel plan - what do you do, call them and report if you have to take Sinus meds for 6 days? Or you are given painkillers due to a root canal? I know someone who was told when she purchased private insurance that birth control pills were a pre-existing condition so would not be covered. Then there is me - I have been called - AGAIN - as a potential juror for a FIRST DEGREE (wonderful) murder trial. The insurance company tried to tell me last time that jury duty was a pre-existing condition - that one I won. But I am appalled that I might be called for a 6 - 8 week trial - my dog would have to be boarded - and I wouldn't receive any $$$ for the first 10 days of sitting plus the 5 days while they pick the jury. Even taking public transportation alone would cost about $105.00 - before the cost of boarding our older dog - or sending him to daycare. There is something wrong with our system. And I almost bought a cheap ticket to NY on the day the jury notice arrived - 10 minutes before - but the AC website crashed. Just as well, because the insurer allows 14 days from date of the summons to cover the cost of a ticket - it took 18 days for it to get here. The person did believe me - but he told me that claims would have given me a very hard time. Last time I was given only 5 days' notice and they wouldn't let me out of it and I had a plane ticket. My husband is also on the rotation - yet so many people have never been called - and others have been excused for the most frivolous of reasons - while others with very legitimate reasons have to serve. At least pay me my costs. Once the $40 a day kicks in in week 3, that would have to be taken into income. Can't win! I would hate to be an honest banker on trial - or someone with money. Last time I wore a suit and was accused of being a lawyer - unfortunately I am not so had to stay as well as a "sneak in a suit". Many people were there in Joe Boxer PJs and slippers. When my husband served the person responsible for filling Ontario juries wrote an article for the paper reading that jury panels do not have a proper demographic because too many people get out of it leaving only those with a similar mind set. On the news there was an interview with the public defender for a murder trial - jury selection started this week. He said that the best jurors are construction or trade workers because they are much more independent thinkers? What was he smoking? Some provinces pay everyone the equivalent of UIC from day one -that we need. This will cost us our vacation....See More1929Spanish-GW
