I was equally "whoa-ed" to read that William Shatner turned 93 this week.

Love William Shatner. He was in 3 seasons of Better Late Than Never. I laughed so hard. They were all great.

My sister became a lawyer in the early 1970s, and she had to put up with a lot because she was a woman. Men in the law offices only wanted women to be eye-candy secretaries, whether they were competent or not (most were not), and it irritated my sister that she could not hire a secretary based on qualifications. In the mid 70s, she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas to teach law at the University of Arkansas, and that was worse than Texas. If she had moved to California like I did, it would have been easier for her.

In 1972, my congressional representative was Barbara Jordan, and I considered her to be another trailblazer. I saw her at political rallies in Herman Park, across the street from where I lived in 1972.

I am and have always been a

libber" and I remember Steinem when she worked at Glamour magazine and even modeled for them. She was always an activist and I admired her and still do. She was gorgeous and still is attractive.

Shatner was on Kimmel the other night and I marveled how young he looked and acted for 93. They gave him a cake with 93 candles.

I liked Wm Shatner on Twilight Zone, but I hated him on Star Trek, but part of it was that I hated James T. Kirk, who was more of a cowboy, always getting into fist fights, which I found completely unnecessary. I always wished they had kept Jeffrey Hunter as Christopher Pike instead - I was a huge Jeffrey Hunter fan as a child. I do like Wm Shatner on The Unexplained.

She proved you could have looks and brains.

Wow! Was always an admirer of hers, and now I really feel old.

He was, since Gene Rodenberry originally thought of Star Trek as "Wagon Train to the Stars," a western in space.

As for Gloria Steinem, I saw her 5 years ago in the café at Blackwell's bookshop in Oxford. She was at the Uni to deliver a talk, and she looked wonderful.
