We have cabinets painted in Divinity on maple (http://www.medallioncabinetry.com/Product.aspx?productID=161&CategoryID=2) which is a cool off white with the honed jet mist. I really like it - everything is softer. The honed jet mist reminds me of a chalkboard, I don't know why. With the white streaks running through it I am much happier than going with absolute black honed, I think it can help hide any imperfections longer (not that I have any right now!!). We also had polished uba tuba in our old house and I hated the streaks as well. When we went to see a slab, yes, the guy was like, look at the fingerprints just want you to know etc and so we hemmed and hawed a bit about honed but finally said it can't be any worse than the streaks on a polished. I don't really notice any fingerprints. I am a bit fanatical about wiping down the counters right now (for water spots or food stains) but we have only had them for 3 months. All I use is either clorox wipes or just a paper towel with some dish soap. Occasionally I have used the method granite spray. If anyone has any better suggestions let me know! I also have 3 young children and don't believe they have inflicted any damage either. I'll do my best to upload a pic later to help.

This happened to me too! Painted poster boards and moved them around the room to make sure I loved the color before painting the entire living/dining room. I did everything I was supposed to, and after two coats it was BABY BLUE!!! I was so upset. But then I held up the paint chip white dove (OC-17) to our trim, and our trim was YELLOW!!! I'd bet your trim isn't white, but rather a yellow or darker cream. Here's a pic. Same color, revere pewter, different trim. The trim on the right is white dove. The trim on the left is old, yellowed oil based trim of unknown name.

Going to the Chapel also looks yellow. Is it a cool color or warm? Per the color's spectral data, it is a cool color. Cool or warm is a matter of context. Going to the Chapel could be either depending on the contents in the room. Looking at the paint chip all by itself, you can't really answer if it is a cool color or a warm color. However, we can answer the question objectively by putting the color in context of a notated color space (or two). Put the color in context of a color space based on its intrinsic characteristics, like hue family, and you can determine its temperature from an intrinsic, spectra data point of view. There are two ways to do that. The first way is you can look the color up on easyrgb.com and look up the CIE L*c*h values for the color, h = hue angle (illustrated below). And then use this color wheel to see what hue family the hue angle indicates and ALSO what side, warm or cool, of the hue family the color falls. Or, if you know how to do it, convert the color's raw spectral data to a hue/value/chroma notation (which I did) and plot that notation on the color wheel to illustrate not only its hue family but ALSO what side, warm or cool, of the hue family the color falls. I plotted both the L*c*hº hue angle of 103º and the hue/value/color notation, 7.22 Yellow / 9 Value / 0.8 Chroma, for Going to the Chapel on the special color wheel so you can easily see its hue family and color temperature in context of the Munsell and CIE L*c*hº color spaces. The two data points, the hue angle and the HVC notation, don't match up exactly when plotted on the wheel. That's normal and to be expected. All is well as long as they are within a reasonable range of each other, which as you can see, they are.

Please explain how quality lighting is achieved Unfortunately, have to deal with the hand you're dealt when it comes to how much and the quality of natural light you have in a room. Adding windows and doors (called fenestration) to improve the amount and balance of light usually isn't realistic. Neither is changing light bulbs. Because even if you were to leave the lights on all day (and who does that?) the affect is comparable to spitting into the ocean and expecting it to rise. Window treatments that open to expose as much of the window as possible helps the most when trying to bring some balance to the quality of inherent light. By balance I mean a quality of light that shines a mix - or balance - of wavelengths across the whole visible spectrum. Not just warm like incandescent light bulbs and not just cool like many daylight light bulbs. What kind of light source will Balboa Mist need to look warm grayish purple. A natural or artificial light source that is 'cooler' and shines more wavelengths from the blue end of the spectrum can make Balboa Mist show up purple. Again, during the day the color and kelvins of a light bulb mean nothing. At night, it's going to change how the color looks - and the atmosphere. So, it's really important that you like the vibe you get in the room from a light bulb. That's just as important as how changing the light changes a paint color.
