Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Need help w/ paint for trim, siding, garage doors buff brick house

Please help! Paint is peeling so need to repaint and have the opportunity to change the color. Hoping for something that will make our blah house pop. House faces north. South and West sides of the house have vinyl windows with very stark white casings. Eventually North and East sides will have same windows.

I've been all over the place with color - white to blend with windows, then think a darker color so it pops. I'm still confused! Also, I'm thinking one color for the trim & gutters, and maybe a darker color for siding and doors (including garage); however, I'm concerned that from the street you will see white on the house, and bold garage doors which will look disjointed. I'm all over the place!

Thank you! I really appreciate your suggestions of colors and will check those out. Just to clarify, you don't think there will be too much contrast with the windows encased in stark white if going with a darker shade? Again, thank you!

Hi there, We haven't done it yet, but I still want to. I actually found a neighborhood near here (tipped off by my neighbor who's been thinking of doing this for ten years but has yet to pull the trigger) where there are tons and tons of houses like ours, most painted a single color. They look great. And it's in a very fancy area, which I think explains the greater prevalence of doing this than my specific neighborhood, which is nice but not ritzy (since painting the brick adds a lot of $$). I took pictures of some of these houses, which I'm happy to post. I think it's important though to hire a really really good painter, and to shell out the extra $ for good paint. I've seen some crappy jobs and it's not worth it.

If anyone can help I would be grateful! I really need to make a decision this weekend if possible. I know I need to do samples but would appreciate any direction on which SW whites to look at. I want it to be soft and warm/inviting and wouldn't even mind a cream if I can find on that still looks like a creamy white rather than yellow. Thoughts? Would SW Creamy work or go too yellow?

I feel like everyone with greige homes and darker trims has black windows or shutters at least, so I wasn't sure if my white windows everywhere will look good with the dark rock and darker trim (well again, I originally planned on white trim). I did like the black garage door you had in the pic above with the large numbers very much. This one of many choices and I just feel overwhelmed! You have so many great ideas on the garage, I just need to finalize this trim and make a decision ; )

What’s behind door number 1? Sorry, couldn’t help it. Lovely house, it only feels stark because there are no foundation plantings. I’d pull a color out of the stone or grout and use that. And why go to all the expense of replacing siding that does not need replacing? Siding takes paint well. I need to go back and look at the front porch, but you can use some color on the front porch (seating, rug, planters, etc) and then use one of the porch colors on the side doors.

If you search ’brown brick trim colors’, lots of ideas come up. Just an example:

Of course none will be your exact brick, but it might help with ideas. And after narrowing down possibilities, search everywhere you can for examples — Pinterest, Instagram tags, etc.

Your white windows are definitely an important factor to consider, so I’d look for an experienced, reliable pro in your area for advice on a color that will work well with both them and the brick. It’s a big job, you want it to be right the first time!

What color is the front door?

Are you in the Houston area? Or a different southern state? Just curious, I’m admiring the Live Oaks. :)
