Yellow climber to cover south-facing wall in 7b
Comments (5)How yellow do you want? Jaune Desprez isn't jaune; and Crépuscule and Lady Hillingdon, fine roses both, are apricot, fading to near-white if they're in sun. I think some of the Noisettes are considerably closer to yellow than the ones you name, but I don't know them at first hand. One you might want to consider is Duchesse d'Auerstaedt, a Tea-Noisette: she's a strong plant with exceedingly magnificent large cupped definitely yellow blooms. We have hot summers and my Duchesse is trained against a terrace wall and the railing above it, with a southeast exposure and some afternoon shade, and she's fine. I don't know about hardiness. Here the Duchess is clean, but our climate is dry and blackspot is very rarely an issue....she can get a touch of mildew. My plant is grafted. Currently it's about 15'-20' wide and 8' tall. I don't fuss over it, just keeping a hay mulch on it and not watering it particularly, but this is a kind climate for roses. I help this helps. Melissa...See Morerose for 7B
Comments (3)In Dallas, the problem I had is that they love to grow into almost climbers before putting out flowers - so watch the fine print descriptions that say "vigorous" or "rapid growth". That said, Graham Thomas grows like a weed, and bloomed in the heat of summer. Shakespeare is in my garden now, and bloomed constantly last year - an interesting purplish pink flourescent rather than the red description provided. Pat Austin does well here, as does Abraham Darby. I absolutely adored the smell and look of Othello - taller bush, huge, rude thorns - but the most awesome big blooms and color and smell. One warning. The ones I have had put down one huge tap root to China, with minor supporting roots. It is darn near impossible to move them once established without cutting that root - I lost my Othello that way trying to move it to a location with more sun in hopes of increasing the blooms. So make sure you like the location. Also remember they bloom in flushes, then nothing for a while, so if you want constant color, this may not be the rose type for you... terry...See MoreQuestions about the features of climbing roses (7b)

Comments (22)The pink & white roses should be pretty easy to find ones you like as; there are so many available in those shades. Lavender coloured roses would be more difficult to find in the globular and petal packed look you like. I will recommend Poseidon. It's a really good bloomer, nice frilly petals & highly disease resistant. On the flip side I've heard that lavenders can fry in hot afternoon sun in warmer zones. Eden would be a nice rose - to blend pink & white together. Sceptre d'isle is a very good rebloomer. Strawberry hill is also a good one. These are the 2 girliest pinks I have in my garden. Bolero is a good white & seems to be quite popular. Winchester Cathedral also does very well for me. I also agree with dublinbay about some of the pink austins having a lot of apricot blend. So you would have to do research there. And the other thing is it would be easier to suggest roses if you had info an overall size for the garden space. How many roses you are planning to plant? Maximum height & widths? Then people can be more specific. Some of the austins can be quite large within a few years. So if you want a lot of them you may need a huge garden bed....See MoreRelated Professionals
