In need of Backsplash Advice

Hi All,

I need some advice or your take on the following:

So the new construction comes with the countertop w/ 4" back/sidesplash. I know a lot of people recommended just removing them and doing the backsplash entirely the same, but let's put that aside since I'm keeping them. One of my concerns is the side splash. I'm not too sure what the best way to deal with. I was thinking about removing the 4" side splash and just having a cleaner look of the white wall (lots of forum recommended) but I heard some others recommended keeping them since they retain the continuity of the rest of the 4" backsplash. Another question is, if I do keep the 4" side splash, does it look fine without the backsplash on top?

Thank you all!
