Seconding function, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets don't need to match, in color or style, and generally do not. It can be difficult making any changes to a late parent's home -- give yourself some time and don't worry about it. I can't recommend any shades of white paint, but you might find it helpful to pop into the Kitchen forum and read through the archives or ask for suggestions there.

calidesign just wanted to say a BIG thank you! We have decided to go with painting our kitchen cabinets taupe. We didn't think of that color on our own, it didn't even cross my mind, so thank you so much! I've already spoken to the cabinet guy and painter. This is the general idea I'm leaning towards. I'm going to have 2 different decorative tiles around the kitchen area (fireplace & bathroom) so I'm going to keep the back splash a solid color. Thanks again!

I would still argue for continuing the current floor through the space. It's just too small to mix floors and have it look good, particularly given what you've invested in opening it up. I think the floor you're looking at putting in will detract, rather than add, to the value you're putting into the coop. That said, budget is of course a reality. Given that you're looking at adding a fairly small island that's a fairly standard length, what about adding a freestanding island instead of a cabinetry island, and using the savings for he floors? IKEA and Crate and Barrel both make some islands that could be great for your space and have the look you want, particularly if paired with white perimeter cabinets. IKEA Crate and Barrel

IMO that quartz does not work with warm colors and certainly not with Accessible Beige next to it. You need to choose 3 colors you think will work then get large poster boards and paint each with 2 coats of the colors . Make sure your lighting is LED 4000K and then see what works with the counters. BTW those counters need to be in before choosing paint colors so a bit backwards but doable.
