Should I buy this Dacor wall oven?
Comments (8)Gary/Dodge, You certainly hit the nail on the head--I want form and function. One of the goals of my renovation is to add some looks while keeping good function and workflow. Ultimately, I'm a practical sort, but why spend all this money for something that doesn't satisfy the visual senses or work properly? You've been a good advocate for Electrolux and one of the reasons I'm considering it, even though I would prefer a different look. It was interesting that the issue stated on the other post was specific to the 27" E-lux oven. Maybe we haven't heard about it on this board because the majority of posters have 30" ovens. It seems most of the ovens I like look-wise only come in a 30" size. The 27s closest to my look desires are the Thermador, Dacor, and Kitchenaid (although I don't care for the KA handle or reliability issues). Thermador is a little out of my price range and also appears to have reliability issues. I would love it if appliance companies made their lines more modular--the same unit with a choice of doors (one modern, one traditional). Wall ovens are so visible that I think they can make or break a look. I have a friend with a lovely, traditional, kitchen in an older home, but the Fisher-Paykel oven just ruins it for me everytime with its looks. I'm sure I will make my share of mistakes during this remodel--I'm just hoping to avoid costly ones....See MoreWall oven across from peninsula...how much space?
Comments (2)Our oven is also directly across from the end of the peninsula. We have 48" of space from the face of the oven cab to the face of the peninsula. Our oven door sticks out just over 20" when open, leaving almost 28" of space. This is more than enough. But I did try to mock up 20" and that seemed a little tight. Sometimes just a few inches can make a big difference. Hope that helps....See Morehow high should wall ovens be from the floor?
Comments (2)How tall you are may make a difference on where you feel comfortable accessing your ovens. I'm 5' 1 1/2", and I have 2 drawers under my Kitchen Aid oven/micro combo which would be a similar set up to what you are planning. The bottom of the lower oven is at 23 1/2 from the floor. The bottom of the upper oven is at 46 1/2 from the floor. This works fine for me....See Morehelp me place an peninsula.
Comments (2)I like #3 the best of the options posted, but would look at putting the dishwasher next to the sink and a different eating counter. Have you given any thought to having the counter/eating bar on wheels with overhang on 2 or 3 of the sides? that way you'd have more flexibility to have it nearer your work area, plus more seating options. Some people prefer to sit across from each other rather than side by side....See MoreRelated Professionals
