Why are you starting with the backsplash?

I think that those are the regulations the investor of the building has to follow or something. All apartments that he sells come with empty kitchens, but with backsplash installed, and most of the apartments have already been finished like this. Like in the picture below.

Any ideas what kind of kitchen should I aim for overall?

He chooses the backsplash, first before anything else, and you choose the rest if the kitchen? What sort of bass ackwards set up is that? Backsplash is the final choice..

Can you perhaps ask for a credit for the backsplash amount, so that you can do it when it makes sense? Are you given a budget overall for the kitchen installation, or is the expense on you? Are you wanting a simple kitchen or do you have specific needs and wants for the kitchen? In which country is this kitchen? Is an oven common in the kitchen in your region?

So I assume what I am seeing on the wall are several electrical boxes and the plumbing hookup for the sink. So we know where the sink is going. What are the dimensions for the space? Do you need to have an eating space in that area or can your seating be out on the wooden floor?

When I think about it though, I can probably tell the investor not to install the backsplash, and later have someone do it, when I choose everything else, like Jenny suggested. I don't see why I couldn't have that choice... Only cabinets and counters are on me, while flooring and backsplash are included in the price of the apartment.

As for the space of the kitchen, it is a semi-open space connected with a dining room which is connected with the living room. So eating space is not needed in the kitchen, but I would like to have some kind of seating option, something like a bar or and extra counter, if possible. Kitchen is around 9.8 m2 (105 ft2) or 2.85 m X 3.5 m. Backsplash length is 3.7m (12 feet). It's a weird shaped area with a window and a door to the balcony. Take a better look below.

In the end I just want a kitchen that will best suit those 10 square meters of space. As for the look I guess something more modern would suit the apartment better. I don't know, feel free to give me suggestions. Sorry for replying late, I was working. Btw, hello from Serbia (Southeast Europe) :)

That far left corner of the kitchen is a challenge because the corner is less than 90 degrees. So cabinetry won't fit into that corner. I might consider having a counter that starts narrow behind the balcony door and widens to meet the back wall of the kitchen, to give you a great place to have coffee in front of the window.

That is an interesting idea to put a counter that narrows towards the balcony, never thought of that. Also I'll try to leave backsplash area empty until I finish the rest of the kitchen. Thanks guys!
