I think a low stool would be better, like this IKEA one. It might not be a perfect match to your cabinets, though. Otherwise, look for a low wood stool.

Do you have a picture of what you are thinking about? There are plenty of back less chairs/stools out there.

While I think your garden stool option is pretty, I don’t think it’s practical. They are a bit heavy and unwieldy to move. There are many other options as others have shown.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I've also contacted a contractor about filling the chair space w drawers since we never sit at this desk.

Pick a regular stool. Garden stool is heavy, bulky and can scratch your floors unless you pick it up to move it every time. Filling in with drawers is a great idea.

I would fill it in in a heart beat those desks are just so dated now no one needs one in the kitchen anymore .
