Decorating inspiration

Hello! I need advice for this room. Something is off, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Also, any thoughts on curtains? Do you think additional furniture would help the space?

Can you post a few more pictures showing all four sides of the room? From what I can see so far, I would replace the ceiling fan with something white/unobtrusive, remove the bench under the window, and move the small table from next to the sofa to in between the matching chairs.

I think a nice console table in front of the window maybe with a lamp and I do not like family photos in entetainment spaces so maybe hang those in a the hallway going to the bedrooms and get a nice big piece of art you love to replace those . Move the chairs further apart and add a table between them the see if drapes are needed sometimes they just add that bit of class and warmth to a space . Some nice linen ones could work full enough to be full even when closed and IMO even that full if you never close them . I like 3x the width of the rod for sure.I might even choose to hang the TV on the wall with a caninet below it on that wall where the pic are and turn the sectional to face the new TV space then see where the chairs can go . I do not think you need more furniture just a better layout.

oceanna, Amazon Marketplace is the place on Amazon.com where you buy and sell used books. You know on an Amazon item page where it says something like "87 used & new available from $4.89" with a clickable link? That takes you to Amazon Marketplace. I use it a lot because I'm too cheap to pay retail, I just can't see the point of spending $35 (most of these deco books are SO expensive!) for a book I can get for something like $6. I've been disappointed in the libraries in the last four towns I've lived in - one of the prices you pay for small-town living, I guess. paint_chips, I have no idea what half-price.com is? I was referring to half.com, which is a non-bidding subsidiary of eBay that's pretty much all books and music. There's a lot of current stuff there as well as older things. Hamilton also has a surprising number of current books, more than one would expect of a remainders discounter. I always found the rip-pages-out-of-magazines thing to be kind of messy and hard to organize even in binders - that is why I scan them. We needed a new printer and it was very nearly the same price for the all-in-one as it was for a plain printer, and it's been very much worth it to us for the copier function alone so I don't have to schlep off to Kinkos just to photocopy something! I can also scan my various inspiration-type pics from books without tearing apart the book (sacrilege!) or trying to remember which book has a certain picture. (I back them up on CD or a flash-drive every so often.) The standard setup of folders and subfolders makes it easier for me to keep track of what is where, and the thumbnail photos make it almost a no-brainer once you follow a logical cascade such as Home Decor -> Inspiration -> Kitchens -> Craftsman.

I have a french country vibe in my kitchen but I think the vintage european food advetisements can work with other decor. My picture isn't too great. A table full of cookie decorating kids were the original focus and I tried to crop the picture to emphasize the pictures.

Absolutely lovely...I love the mixture of styles, colors, and materials. The exterior is so warm and welcoming. It looks like the little house is smiling! The kitchen is a great example of a space that is timeless...no trendy stuff, just beautifully put together. And I'm a rooster lover, so that room does it for me. Thanks for the link...aaaaah

At first glance? Not more furniture, different furniture

A nice generous round cocktail table approx 36 inches diam

GET RID of the pie crust table to another room - suits nothing else in there.

What is in the foreground on the right??

Move the two swivel barrel back to the window, find a different table for between, add a lamp

No need for the bench ( a hallway? )

Too many same pillows on the couch, take two and use on the chairs. Those need a jooosh, pattern on the couch, does not mean all solid elsewhere

ART........ Right of the fire, and the cluster is too busy,.

Family photos are best viewed up close and a few on table tops will do it. : ) Hallway passages are excellent for family- always an eye level view and close.

It isn't about what I like ( stop it up there, please??? Nobody cares what you "dislike" ) they simply are more advantageously viewed and the wall needs a bigger bang .

Move the TV to one of the walls. It will allow you to install a larger screen.
