Comments (60)indianagardengirl, your hellebores are loaded! I want to plant more this year. Right now mine are under snow, but we need the water so I'm not complaining! debra, you don't want to be cutting down daffodil leaves. It's hard to place bulbs so that we don't mind seeing them die back, but that's how they'll get energy to come up next year. But it's nice when we can finally clear the dead leaves away....See MoreHosta Green 2023 ................
Comments (27)Peren, BA sits under the dense shade of my King Crimson Red Maple. It gets late afternoon sun for a couple of hours. When it rains I can measure how significant a rain it was because BA only gets wet if it’s been pouring for a while. I have toyed with the idea of taking some pieces from it and putting them in more sun, but it is one of my largest hostas and it’s been in that spot for years. I noticed last year that it seems to be shrinking a bit, so I may have to get Bert’s help to dig it up and pull out the maple roots……dreading that! Krossa is not getting any more overhead moisture than the rest of my garden. I do try to root water and don’t use a sprinkler. Paula, thanks for the info on potting soil. 👍🏽 debra...See MoreHosta Leaves 2023 .......
Comments (20)Pieter, your Katherine Lewis reminds me a bit of Ambrosia. I think if the Captain Kirk pip with that different leaf becomes stable for you….then call it AWOL! 😂😂 Peren, let me say my favorites: Dinner Mint (reminds me of a tiny Paradise Joyce), Powder Blue, all those lovely bumps, can’t wait until my Winter Snow looks like yours, Fingerprint (wowed by that blue), Riviera Sunset (which I ordered because of your beauty) and the King (what is not to love about those colors?) debra...See MoreHosta Flowers 2023 .........................
Comments (18)'Fragrant Blue'... and yes, it's fragrant for me. 'Sea Octopus' 'Sea Octopus' rectifolia var. Pruinosa with an unusual whorled arrangement of flowers 'Bulletproof' 'Stained Glass' 'Fragrant Dream' These flowers are on what supposedly is venusta, but they do not look like any flowers I've seen on the web from this specie. I'd love to find out what it in fact is, particularly since it was sporting when I purchased it a few years ago. Yes, the plant does remind one of venusta but I have my doubts. 'Nightlife' 'Amime Tachi' aka Siberian Tiger rectifolia var. Pruinosa...yes, I know, this is not the first picture of it I'm showing but it makes such an impressive showing when in full bloom 'First Blush' 'Tick Tock' 'Spider' 'Ray of Hope' which is fact has stabilized and turned into 'Roller Coaster Ride' and supposedly RoH comes out of laevigata. but it's remarkably reluctant to set pods, never mind seeds.
