Help! Need siding + front door design suggestions
Comments (33)I think that a wooden deck is in keeping with your home’s style (which is fabulous, by the way!). You could explore using Ipe or a synthetic decking material in a dark tone. I don’t think that you will be able to match the stone on your home, so I wouldn’t even try. You might also explore better, more interesting modern lighting for your entrance way to make it more inviting. Do you require house numbers anywhere on your facade? In the end, I am sure, you will explore a renewal of your landscaping. But I would keep the porch in the forefront as you work on siding. Your house will be beautiful when you are done!...See MoreLiving Room Design Suggestions (New Build)
Comments (0)Hi all! I am moving into a new townhome in about a week or so, and I'm working on designing the living room. The space itself is approximately 14x9 feet. I pasted a picture of the demo home just below this: I'm trying to create a color scheme sort of like the ones pasted below (beige/grey/white/brown) that is more minimalist/contemporary in style. I've already bought my couch, and I'm trying to pick a coffee table / TV stand / area rug that goes with everything else. I would love any suggestions. I created a design board here that have several options. Thanks in advance! https://app.milanote.com/1OHw401NgHcobT?p=3XXqLUBbnWY...See MoreDesign suggestions for home office!
Comments (16)Thank you so much to everyone for your input and sharing your time and expertise! @Silver Fox 88 - I like your idea of a big plant in each corner flanking the desk, good suggestion! Also you're right that I definitely need some wall art; I can't even begin to figure that out yet. ;) Can you explain why the desk is too close to the wall? I had assumed that it was good to be against the wall, which leaves the most open space in the rest of the room. (The windows behind the curtains overlook the garden, so I want the desk facing in that direction.) ------ @Jilly - thank you, I'm glad to know I'm off to a good start! :) The house was built in 1924, it's a center-hall Colonial. Thank you for the various picture selections, those are a great starting point, and I just learned that houzz shows you paint color names in photos, which is awesome. I don't have a fixed budget, but since we need to furnish the entire house, I'd like to keep my office relatively low-cost. Ideally not more than about $200-300 for the rug, say 100-200 for a filing cabinet, and honestly I have no idea how much paint costs yet. The rest of the house is some mid-century modern but from the actual mid-century (our dining room table is an heirloom from my grandparents), I also like traditional, new traditional ...? I like warm wood, bright colors, and plants! And, great suggestion on the visualizer features for rugs on Overstock, etc, thanks, I'll give that a try! ------ @housegal200 - Thanks for the pointer on how to balance a rug with the wall color, that's super helpful. Exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for! :)...See MoreDesign suggestions, home bar
Comments (12)What a fantastic space!! If it were me, I would eventually want the fridges to look more built in - You could do some measuring and might get lucky and find some ikea storage pieces that could fit - but down the road I’d have a custom cabinetry person create storage and surrounds for the fridges on that large wall for now I’d just be hosting parties and enjoying all the fun :) ETA - i might paint the back wall with the 2 TV’s the same dark color as the pool room...See MoreRelated Professionals
