I saw a preview of Orange Glow in a gardening magazine about a month ago. So it's being promoted for sure. I recommend Double Easy Orange available from Jackson &Perkins. This is a Carruth rose, and I love it, having grown it all last season. It began as a bare root, planted in April, and bloomed starting in June, and continued through most of October. Diane

It has that same barely double yet bull-nosed form of 2KO. I will take a hard pass.

Roses in my garden are 'tenants,' not 'permanent residents.'. Any: black spot, mildew (powdery or downy), octopus canes, nodding/weak necks, water hogs, excessive thorniness (such as in hybrid rugosas), quick to drop petals, frying in the hot sun, poor winter hardiness, scanty blooming, balling in wet weather, etc., that turns up on a new rose and doesn't correct within a reasonable trial period gets the boot...and with no regrets or second chances in most cases.

Right now my two Grande Amores and Queen of Elegance are not giving their best among a few others, so new tenants are always being sought.

My best tenants are: Quietness, South Africa, Moonlight Romantica, Quick Silver, Oh My, Apricot Candy, Bliss, Pinkerbelle, Dee-Lish, Double Pink Knock Out, White Knock Out, and the Drifts: Sweet Drift, Apricot Drift, and Popcorn Drift. Still being tested further because of their pretty good performance so far, are True Inspiration and True Passion.

My best roses are represented with multiples, such as four (4), Quietness; four Apricot Candy; and six (6), Apricot Drifts. There are plenty of 'two ofs,' in the rose bed, too.

I think (based on pics above) that it is the loveliest of the whole kennel of Knock Outs.

Stark's sold out theirs I just checked. Will see if Walmart, HD and Lowe’s have it this spring.

Me too, RoseCanadian, although the White Knock Out and Double Pink Knock Out in my garden are not too shabby.

Judith, Home Depot is selling Orange Glow, postage free, 1 gallon - $24.99. Also, Amazon has it for $25.99, same size.

It's supposed to hit the nurseries across the USA in due time, for 2024.

That Orange Glow bloom pic above in another post reminds me of the Carefree Celebration rose I had at my old house..It later became named as a knockout rose...

My Home Depot doesnt even have body bag roses in yet - I will go next week after my grandddaughter leaves.......and see what they have. Havent received mine from Starks yet.......but plan to buy a nice potted one if I can find it. I like the looks of it.........

Jim, I really like your Coral Knock Out from your old home. I don't see any evidence that Orange Glow K.O. is a better color, maybe it's just a taller bush? Any how, I just ordered it from Amazon....due to arrive next week. Of course it will stay in its pot until mid-May, brought inside when overnight frosts are expected until then. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

A bit of clarification. Coral Knock Out IS Carefree Celebration. The people who produce the Knock Out series renamed it. I have two in USDA Zone 7a. The lightly fragrant flowers are very pretty but rarely the bright orange you see in the pics. Flower form is a loosely double open rosette seen most commonly among the Floribundas. The shrub is short to medium in height with a spreading growth habit. I live in the epicenter for black spot disease with all five strains present and Coral Knock Out IS NOT disease resistant without spraying fungicides. By August expect naked shrubs. Contrast that with the two red Double Knock Outs in the same bed that have never shown a speck of disease.

I have my eye on ORANGE GLOW KNOCK OUT as there is a need for a truly black spot resistant orange rose in my garden, and will snatch up a couple if I see them offered at local nurseries in the Spring. Anybody know if there is some fragrance? What are the thorns like?

Witherspoon Roses has their new roses up and they carry Orange Glow KO.

No notable fragrance, and lots of thorns. After having observed a number of blooms this year, it appears to be an orange version of Double Knock Out (red), and Double Pink Knock Out. Orange Glow Knock Out's bloom is the same size of the afore mentioned two. It does not quill as they do, only the cupped center relaxes to a somewhat disheveled but pleasant look as it ages. There are no viable hips produced. The orange does fade to an orange sherbet color.

I love Orange Glow Knockout best among any of the Knockouts. I found that Coral Knockout was a relatively sparse bloomer and the blooms pinked out fairly quickly. Orange Glow stays coral colored throughout the bloom cycle like Sweet Fragrance from Ping Lim does. Not that it's the outstanding rose that Sweet Fragrance is, but it's a solid garden rose that I already have two of (and I'm not one to repeat roses mostly). I don't see the blackspot pressures that can plague other Knockouts, but that may be different in the humid Maryland area. Thorns are average for a rose and no fragrance - I think the Knockout series has bred out fragrance in favor of durability and hardiness.

Bottom line is I recommend trying it! You can probably find it at a variety of big box stores like Home Depot or Walmart for a price around $25.

I really like it too. Its appearng to be a very tough rose - our Texas summer this year was really hot and we have just come out of a long drought. This rose survived when some others didnt. I adore Sweet Fragrance! And a real winner that toughed the heat and bloomed its head off, and that I just ordered another of, is Double Easy Orange. A really superb rose!! It has just not stopped blooming and is disease free, grows well and I plan to get several more of it!

I actually wound up with two plants of the Orange Glow Knockout. Both seemed determined to survive in spite of the conditions they had to go through. The flower color here is a soft orange sherbet color that fades to a pink because the yellow pigment is not all that stable. I have several roses whose yellow pigment component is not stable in bright sunlight. This is not all that unusual. The plants are fairly healthy and do not have any discernible bad disease problems at the moment. The plants do okay, but I would like better color stability in the flowers.

Had to make another comment on KO Orange Glow. I was cleaning a neglected flower bed today that is in hot afternoon Texas sun. It was one I didnt water as much as I should. Lost a few things in that bed - it only had 4 roses - including some dwarf boxwoods, 2 slender silouette sweetgum trees. Lost Julia Child and a yellow Veranda Sunbeam roses. The KO Orange Glow roses were growing like they had been watered all summer, never missed a beat. Beautiufl green healthy leaves with not one hint of blackspot or any other disease. I lightly trimmed them back - and this was their first year! I think these OG's are going to be powerhouses in the landscape. I love the color, this is a much better rose than the coral one. I have 3 and may get more to fill in landscape spots that get the brutal sun in summer.
