I've gotten most of my info from private emails with the administrators over time. The site sells advertising, which is why the sneaky "free ads" disguised as posts are not appreciated. Not to mention the long history of GardenWeb being a site where members (used to be a pay-to-post site) actually help other members and don't try to sell them something. Many many of the spammers are outright crooks, too.

I'm wondering mainly because you can get so many options like cup holders, it seems like something someone might do. But I haven't seen such a thing anywhere. (I do like recliners for certain things. I have a recliner in my bedroom because sometimes it's more comfortable for me to sleep in the recliner instead of the bed, due to joint issues.)

I suggest you look at Ruggables and get one that just sits in front of the sofa. The size should be 2-3 feet wider than your sofa. You can roll it up when the bed needs to be used and put it back down after the bed is in place. They are light weight and made to be washed so very kid/pet friendly. www.ruggables.com

Agree that Kivik is good looking, but don’t think it comes as sleeper sofa...? I think that was a requirement.. maybe IKEA Finnala could work- it’s not as nice looking as Kivik IMHO but very simple and practical. The foam in many sofas will most definitely be a type of plastic, so might be a no-no... I think OP will have a hard time getting away from that though..
