Comments (11)I got King Crab a while back; am eagerly awaiting its first bloom. Kingdom Without End is not a fast multiplier, but it has been divided once. Kensington Plantation, I see, is out of Victorian Lace. Very interesting. Kansas Kitten is a good performer here. Katherine Caldwell is an earlier bloomer. Not a rapid multiplier. Kiss My Aura looks like a bitone, though it is not registered as such. Around 5.5 inches. Out of Enchanting Esmerelda, but usually better height. The old Killer. Modest bud count. Katherine Marin was not as good as in 2022. Picture from 2022. Good height. Sometimes doubling, which I find less appealing. Kingdom Bound is in my view a superior cultivar in regard to color, bud count, and height. Kingdom Without End after division the previous year Emmerich's King of the Ages, a later bloomer. Moderate increase. Good height. Kansas Kitten in 2022 before division. Kansas City Kicker --a shorter Salter out of Sabine Baur. Color can be quite nice (and cleaner than Sabine), but didn't like 2023. King Kahuna --it is a nice double, though short....See MoreSn-Sz daylilies 2024
Comments (17)Sweeping Shadows the last couple of years has shown signs of tenderness. Short indeed. Earlier, it seemed to do okay. Next summer will be key. Perhaps Star Lord will take off this year; it's an evergreen. Brad's Stealth Bomber appears to have good branching; too slow to show its stuff here, so deleted. Stargate Portal--always low budcount and nothing last year. Sweet Isabela--always nice. Scapes could be more upright. Always glad to hear about Evick cultivars. He introduces a lot, but I don't hear much feedback. Same experience as Debra's with Strawberry Alarm. Sun Panda --Culver. Very saturated eye. Good growth Still the One --excellent in bud count, growth, color. Earlier blooming and tall. Sultry Girls --reliable and rich color. More susceptible to spotting than other Davissons I have. Good height. Stop the Car --well budded Gossard Star of India --excellent performance last summer. An early bloomer that must have liked something that other cultivars didn't. Nights were not as cool as usual in early June, so that may have been a factor. Sweetest Name I Know --newer plant Stone Palace Ecstasy. --It's growing here, but too early to evaluate. Color is rich. Substantial Treasure --performed better than most last summer. Stolen Treasure --subpar last year, with far fewer scapes and buds. Stone Palace Swagger --I very much like the rich color and size. Other factors still a question. Spacecoast Hot Lips --sent by mistake by Northern Lights. Very tall. Spacecoast Red Dazzler --nice color, but plant habit and performance a ?. Spunky Girls --excellent scape, bud placement, color. Looks great against the estate wall. Earlier. Soft Summer Night --poor performance last summer. From 2022. Spinal Tap --short last summer (pic from last summer). Sweet isabela --subpar Soft Play --a newer Hanson Sword of Justice --I like it, but performance so-so last summer. Storm Surge --newer Hanson Spirit of Hope --a Korth. Second year, but difficult to evaluate in a bad year. Sputnik --a favorite early Davisson. Good height. Snowflake Empress --off year for this Dougherty. Pic from previous year....See MoreU and V daylilies 2024
Comments (16)Victorian Garden Starbright did not bloom, as I recall, after being divided the previous year. Sterrett Gardens has Unbound listed as a dormant, but I think that is incorrect. Vegas Showgirl I see is a Gluck out of Rosy Scenario. Many of the VTs have attractive shadings of different colors in a single flower--RR Red, September Star, Bridal Lilac. I was surprised how striking Upgrade is. Still a fairly young plant here, but tall and vivid. Vision Seeker has great plant habit. Vision of Things to Come is taller than most Emmerichs. Vampire Bat looked good last year. Viagra Falls also had a good year. Like many, if not most, in this color, later day sun takes a toll. A quite tall plant. I did not expect Victoria Josephine to have such presence in the garden. Vampire Fish is a fairly young plant. Viva Pinata, newly divided, did not do much. Pic from 2022. Uppity Girls is tall. Looks promising. Vertical Horizon had a good year. Voila Francois bloomed on short scapes. Seems not to thrive here, but interesting. Victorian Lace had a subpar year, but still not shabby. Via Dolorosa fades in mid-day heat, but is an attractive flower. Not a fast multiplier so far, but good height. Velvet Hammer had an off year, with shorter scapes and some splotchy flowers. Vulcan Logic has done well here. Seems a bit bigger than 5". Distinctive color to my eyes. It's the sort of solid plant that one wonders why is not more widely grown. But Hansons usually are not well known even in the upper South....See MoreX, Y and Z daylilies 2024……..Seedling posts to come next
Comments (10)Sherry and Brad: I always thought that /Debra's Zuzu's Treasure was a pretty one with that recurved form and delicate coloring.....Nan: Yellow Daffodil looks like a yellow daffodil. I was surprised yesterday when I spotted some in bloom around town. It was just 16 degrees last week-end, and yet the dafs are starting to bloom already. It's like they said we are coming up no matter what the temperature is...........Kate: What a nice clump shot of Yazoo Elsie Hinton. Very pretty........I only have two under this header. My old favorite that's been with me since almost the beginning: Yesterday Memories: Zac Attack was down to one fan last year after overwintering outdoors. It spent this winter in the garage. Our last 3-4 winters have done a number on my outdoor overwintering sevs. I've lost more again this winter. ZAC Attack. Does remarkably well in our heat given some PM shade: Maryl...See MoreRelated Professionals
