Vacuum cleaner built to last - recommendations?

Cheap plastic? Doesn't work right out of the box? Gaskets that don't seal up against dust escaping? Destined for the landfill 1 day outside of warranty? Planned obsolescence? Nope. I'm done with that.

I'm looking for a vacuum cleaner built to last. I am heavy-handed and also clumsy, therefore I need something that can take a beating and be ok. Done with Bissell and Hoover. And Dyson has too much plastic for someone heavy-handed like me.

Looking for a vacuum cleaner that has a high quality motor and metal parts built to last. Commercial grade. will last at least 10 years, preferably 20. This is for both carpets and hardwood.

What do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance everyone!
