I don't have a photo, since I'm in Georgia right now, and not at home, but I bought a heavy green wooden hospital desk of the same general style for my office redo to surprise DH in March. (CL $40) Insides of drawers are avocado green, the top is a gray white some sort of something (laminate??) and we spray painted all but the top--black. The teens who came over to load/unload, and then, put it in the room after painting, had all kinds of creative ideas for the top. They talked about doing some painted top and then cutting a glass to protect the paint job. Well, no time for all that before DH came home to see the room surprise. And he sees no problem with the top. Plus, with his laptop, printer, paper tray, pen holder, stacks of books/ledgers, it doesn't matter. Our DIY paint job isn't fab, but it's a black desk with a black-framed large message board hung above and looks Manly and useful. So....don't worry over your top. I might just do hammered copper or hammered bronze or even a gray steel look and let the top get covered with the things that need to be there. Red

Besides knowing the style of your home it would help to know the style of the milk can and the desk. Does it have an interesting shape? This milk can is stamped 'Abbot Bros Dairy' and has brass detailing and handle, and is selling for $800. A Modern style home can take a counterpoint of adding one vintage item. Is it graniteware and colorful? Brass? What condition is it in? Old rusty ones are often used in gardens. I love what they did here: Some people paint them. (Not my cup of tea.) Are you willing to "damage it"? How big is yours? They were made in sizes from roughly gallon size for delivery to huge ones that dairies used for bulk storage.

I bet you have a whole different list of manufacturers to look at over there. These desks might be too heavy to have been shipped worldwide. I'd guess an earlier one (1940s?) based on the curve of the desktop, leg position, and the handles. Speaking of handles, what's going on over the kneehole? It looks like an aftermarket knob where there should be a lock. Is that possible? Many US-made tanker desks have a tag right under the lock. If the lock was pulled out, the tag might have come off with it. I don't think my tanker desk has any ID on it aside from that tag. The poofy desktop with the corner thingies is probably the best way to search--most don't have that. I do think it's original (although maybe not the color).
