Back with an update! We were able to move our nightstands back into the room. I was also able to start putting together blue & white bedding to see how it would look, as I already had some components on hand and I was able to scoop up a quilt the other day that I really liked the texture and colors of. You can also see the night stands and how they look with the bed. We had to top them with grey in order to cover up some damage to the tops as we were repainting them. The other option was to sand and re-stain them, and we were trying to avoid that. So far, I'm liking how the blue & white is coming together. In order to complete the look, I am thinking that a blue comforter and blue shams with some sort of textural look would be a great final touch, along with a few new throw pillows to pull it together on the bed. The coverlet in the last picture is a very light one that I had in storage that I just put there temporarily to visualize a blue comforter until I can settle on one. I was also thinking of switching out the sheets to a pale aqua or grey to add interest to the bed. Future plans also include changing out the lamps or repainting the bases antique gold or something to bring some warmth and such to the room.. but I'd like to get the bed figured out first! :) PS we got the bed this past weekend, and I LOVE it! It was a great buy! Currently, I am going between several shades of blue, etc. for the comforter and shams. I am going between this navy chenille set Or one of these pin tucked style comforters in either the bright blue or the navy or even a light blue or, lastly, this "blue" (that's what the description says, I'm not sure if it is blue, but we will see!!!) chenille comforter I really love the look of the navy chenille in the picture, but I'm worried about it looking dark in the room but then at the same time, all of the furniture will be white, etc... soooo?? Next step will be window treatments... which I need to figure out as well... but I'd like to get the bed figured out first! Any thoughts? I've kind of pulled this color palette together.. so I'm going to try to pull it all together with this. This particular artist even sells throw pillows of this painting... so that's a thought. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you so much everyone. This is so helpful! The window would be on the wall nearest to the outdoor stairs down. It is facing south to the backyard and woods behind the house. But after seeing Mark Bishak’s comment and photos I don’t think I have any room for a window. It looks like there will be a lost of wasted space because of all the corners I have.

Thank you, I’m actually going to consider painting the top half of the wall a lighter shade, but may do this over the Easter half term. I work in a school and I’m back on Tuesday 😕, I guess my arts and crafts home projects will be on the back burner for a while. The pictures above have actually inspired me, I can definitely use some of the ideas. For now I’m going to buy some canvases and go for a dove grey shade, then place them on the wall which seems to be the most problematic for me. My son is not really fussed, but when I compare it to my daughter’s room ( of the same colour) the difference is very noticeable. She loves art and had already created artwork for her walls. I really do feel so much better after having everyone’s advice in this forum. Xx

Not sure if the floor plan is in the correct direction, could you check? Do you enter the room from the wood door? In any case, there are some measurements that are necessary for this plan to work for you. Sounds and looks like you are younger than most on this site, and it's great to see that you acknowledge you need design help. 1) Light: If you need natural light, is there anyway a skylight is an option? 2) Paint: Consider painting the walls a warm grey or terracotta (a dark tone in the wood). If you paint the doors and door frames the same color as the walls, it will open up the space and not add another element to the room. Painting a coordinating color to highlight the British Racing Car Green you like will set the color palette. 3) Floor Plan: Because the room is small, it's important to tighten up the furniture, which it looks like you are accustomed to. The angled ceiling side of the room should be used for the TV, display, books, dressers and can be 20"+ deep to accommodate a unit. Bring the TV to the front edge of the of the unit. Adding under counter lights the full length is a good place for ambient lights. Place the bed in the corner on the glass door wall and treat yourself to a small two seat recliner in British Racing Car Green leather. Behind the sofa, add a shelf 2" below the top of the sofa, which can hold lamps for the sofa and the bed and act as a nightstand also. Large art/poster above. Add a small 24" diameter table at the sofa. Locate the desk to the right of the wood door giving you much needed head room. Lighting: Three of the same swing arm table lights for the sofa, bed and desk and undercounter lights at the wall unit (see pic below) should be good light for the room. and you can add floor lamp near the wood door (on either side). Rug: To add more color, a rug (8x10) as large as possible can be as simple, or colorful as you like. There are so many different rugs out there, so it should be the last addition to the room after you decide on the wall color and furniture finish. Same with the bedding.
