Ever had Lower Back Pain?
Comments (25)Had a laminectomy 2 years ago to relieve the pressure on my sciatic nerve. Had never experienced pan like that before. Holy cow! Suffice to say that there was great relief after the surgery but, like they say, once something is broken, it's never like new again. The excrutiating, disabilitating pain was gone but to this day my left leg is still numb from my buttock fold to my foot! I can walk without a limp now and am grateful for that. I have terrible days and my nights are the worse but for the most part I do ok. Aleve and Motrin are helpful. I also walk as much as possible (which kills me but I do it anyway) and I make sure I stretch my hamstrings and calf muscles. I was a Physical Therapist Asst. for many yrs. and know that the one best thing you can do to keep your back healthy is to have a strong core. Find a way to work on those abdominal muscles. They support your back. I also know (from experience) that to some of us, abdominal exercises aren't easy to do when your back is killing you! Good luck to you all with your back discomfort!...See MoreUpdate on my back pain
Comments (12)I just picked up my MRI results and am heading back to the doctor tomorrow. I read the report and from the lab and it states I have "Degenerative Disc Disease" and a bulging disc. I will know more tomorrow when I go to the doctor. So you went back to that doctor Thurs April 23rd then? And he just gave you pills? Someone somewhere should either be prescribing physical therapy, or referring you to a good surgeon. Saying you have "Degenerative Disc Disease" and a bulging disc. is a pretty generic thing to say... I'm wondering if you can get actual copies of the MRI and make an appointment with a surgeon yourself. Does your insurance have a 'help' line that you could talk to about this? Does your insurance have 'preferred' providers that you could pick a surgeon yourself? There are indeed doctors that are idiots and that care very little about helping patients. Don't give up though. There are some good ones out there. I would get an actual copy of the MRI and be finding me someone competent to look at it and either prescribe physical therapy, or refer you to someone who can help you. The one who just gives you pills, is he the one that told you that you will just have to live with the pain? You are going to have to take charge here of getting into someone who can help you. Best of luck...hang in there...you can do it. Sue...See MoreWhite trim color - OR back on the hamster wheel of exterior pain
Comments (9)Graywings - I suspect you are right. I am probably agonizing for no reason. I don't think cream will work as the storm windows are white. Also it will take a VERY long time to re-do all the trim. Windows need re-glazing and only the 3 attic windows have been done. It would take years before it all matched! In my subject line "exterior paint" turned into "exterior pain". How true .. I wonder why the BM website gives "complemetary colors" which are often not white. When white is the most common trim color. Maureen...See Moredeep sinks and lower back pain?
Comments (28)My SIL cautioned me on this after she chose the same sink model she'd had before but in an undermount version not drop-in. She's a few inches taller than me and said that it does make her back ache when she has to reach in or when she's lifting a large pot full of water. I had planned to use the same model I currently have but now I'm hesitating. If I did this, I'd have one bowl 11 1/4" below the countertop as opposed to current 9 1/2" (10" deep bowl that sit 1/2" above countertop). The other bowl is about 2" shallower so this side won't be a problem. It's the almost 1' foot deep sink that gives me pause. I've already had my share of back problems, don't need to add to them but I'm not sure how this will affect me. So many of the sinks I see are the same depths regardless of mount style. While I can understand this from manufacturers' point of view (fewer design modifications, reduced cost), it does mean that we consumers are often stuck. Once again what I thought would be a simple decision has grown in scale. Oy. So I'm going to ask hubby to make me a 1 3/4" tall booster to put at the sink to test out whether that difference will be a problem. If so, then I need to keep on shopping. (I think shopping for a sink with a tape measure is *very smart*! 'Course I say that because I do it, too!)....See MoreRelated Professionals
