Flooring Design Dilemma

How can I get this look?

I am in love with Amtico Form Pavestone Mineral. I love the mosaic look, the look of grout lines, the color variation, and the fact that it's not really tile but is durable. It's exactly what I want in my kitchen. The only problem is that I'm in the US and it's not sold here. Is there anything here that will meet those requirements?

You didn't say how many fish you have but if not too many you can use an air pump and air stone from an aquarium shop (put the pump and plug inside a plastic container to keep rain and moisture out - add holes as necessary or some form of "air-leak"). Your biofilter will take a hit - but remove all the media and then lower the water in you filterfalls unit. Make whatever changes you want and allow time for everything to set up as per mfg. instructions. The "green water" is suspended algae. There are several ways to handle this one being a UV light unit in line. Another is to add water hyacinths or similar plants to provide shade and out-compete the algae for nutrients. ---David

How to get reclaimed heart of pine to 'go' with old...

You could take existing wood flooring out of existing closets and use that to match the new areas in your living room. Then take your newly purchased heart pine and put it in the closets. Regardless of whether the bedroom is on the 1st or 2nd floor, I'd just lay the new wood and then finish. We have oil finished floors. About 5 yrs ago, we added new white oak in a room, while the rest of the house was 1919 white oak. Our flooring guy told us that, over time, oil would allow the new wood to "age" and match the old. This has happened. All our flooring is golden in color. We had to move out of our house for 2 nights at the time the oil was applied because the smell was toxic. If you want it to match perfectly from day 1, it probably won't happen. If you can let it match over time, oil is the way to go.

Please recommend good quality brand of faucet

Ebse I got one of my faucets w/side sprayer for under $500 (normally $1200 w/side sprayer) on Ebay. It was something someone had purchased for a renovation and then changed their mind so it was brand new and I love it! It's by Waterstone and is polished nickel which I really love. Just be sure that whatever faucet you pick that it will fit into the space. Not just the base of the faucet (which I diligently checked), but also how far back and to the side it extends. We almost had a disaster with my "bargain" faucet when we realized that we might not be able to turn it all the way on because it was close to the backsplash and that the decorative finial on the back of the faucet might hit the window trim...yikes! Luckily it all worked out. I know someone on here had to have their trim cut to make it work, and you couldn't even tell, so I guess we could have done the same if necessary! Kat :)

How can I get this look on white oak floors?

White Oak is easier to do achieve this than Red Oak. Red Oak is the wood in the pic. That means a white oak floor is going to get into this colour range SUPER easy. You will notice the caption states the combination of stains. You will take those names to the stain master who is going to sand/refinish your white oak floors. That's where s/he BEGINS. The refinisher will use the inspiration photo to create a special colour on your own floors. That means sanding + water popping an area. Then s/he will make 4-8 different colour samples on your floor and will add a single coat of finish (are you using oil based, oil modified or water based as in the inspiration pic??????). You, the homeowner, will take the weekend (see how I did that...I like to see stain patches added on a weekend so the owners can take their time DECIDING...through all the 5 lighting situations of a full day). Once the owners make their choice the refinisher comes back, removes the colour patches and starts the staining process. Easy peasy!

I checked with a sales rep already and can't get that product line here. Does anyone know of something that would be a replacement?

Are you sure you can't get it through Mannington Commercial? I have at least gotten Samples of Amtico in the US. The grout lines in Amtico patterns are usually inlaid strips of another tile.

I do not rely on sales reps. For anything. Call the company tech support for suggestions.

Amtico has been making vinyl tile since at least the 60's. It's typically $$$$ so you don't see much of it in residential installations. They used pure vinyl in their tiles and the other companies used lots of fillers. That is why their tile was $$$$

If it’s only available overseas, there are companies that you can ship items to and then they will ship them to you in the US. For a fee, of course.
