Comments (17)I very much like Beverly's 2nd photo of the mantle that extends perhaps 6 feet on either side of the FP opening, with shelving below on each side. It's dramatic and lovely. Back to landrstein's question about the 5.5' and 12'height dimensions that I suggested might be possibilities for the double mantles I was envisioning, those dimensions were for how far above the floor they would be, not how wide they would be. It would be good if you could get a designer to draw to scale what you want it to look like. It's important that you and the contractor are on the same page, and drawings will help you get there....See MoreColor Dilema - Cabinets and Backsplash
Comments (6)I actually would not spend the money on changing the cabinets. Instead I'd remove that short backsplash that is part of the countertop which makes the space seem short. The add a faulous backsplash that runs from countertop to cabinets. And lastly replace that tile inset in the floor with the same flooring that's surrounding your kitchen to make the whole space feel roomier....See Morevery small wall kitchen renovation dilema
Comments (11)I’m guessing you want a double sink because you like to stack up dirty dishes in the sink and then you can’t use the sink since it’s a single? Honestly, with a double sink you’ll have more room for piles of dishes in the sink... you will just have them piled on both sides anyway! Ask me how I know!! Lol Decluttering will give you more counterspace. Get a dishrack that sits on a drainboard and put it left or right of the sink on the counter. Wash dishes as you go so you don’t have a sink full. Clean dishes drying in the dish rack look neater than dirty dishes piled in the sink. The stove looks good where it is. It’s nicely centered between the opening above it. You have enough counter. With more counter you’ll have more clutter sitting out. I would come up with a solution for that a/c dehumidifier drain coming from the ceiling above the sink first! The stove looks fine....See MoreNew cabinets dilema
Comments (18)Don’t wash wood. Water is the enemy of wood, and you can ruin the structural integrity. If there’s an issue, it’s not glue, or any other surface contaminate. It will be in the plywood or wood itself. It is curious as to why you say it is isolated to the pantry, and isn’t present to any of the other cabinet drawers. The sides are outsourced finished production components, and only the rears and bottoms are cut to size in the factory, and then the whole is assembled. Other visitors don’t notice it? Neighbors? Family? What did your cabinet seller say when they visited? The KM cabinet rep?...See MoreRelated Professionals
