Thanks.:-) I'm sure the painter will probably have a certain primer he uses, but we can request something different too. We don't have to supply the paint but need to let our builder know which colors/finishes we want and where. It will all come through Sherwin Williams where I guess they have an account. I was thinking I had read something about Sherwin Williams finishes being shinier than others. Like their satin is like others semi-gloss. Is that right? I tried to use the search feature for this info with no luck. Thanks for any help.:-)

Hi, im thinking of going with this paint color for my kitchen, doesn’t get much natural light and i have dark cabinets with absolute cream granite and i will install a cream subway tile for backsplash i also liked rice grain but im afraid it will look too green, so does muslin goes as a creamy neutral and not too yellow? What decor colors go with it?

Amy Glasscock, yes, I have samples of both, and I can go to Lowe's today and get whatever they have. Do you know if the Daltile told by tile stores and the Daltile sold by Lowes or Home Depot are different? I know many products are a different quality in HD/Lowes but though tile would be the same but maybe not. Becky H, the Cloe is beautiful as is your quartz, I'm sure your kitchen will be beautiful. I'm kind of dreading those things that I don't notice now but will eventually and once I see it, I can't unsee it and it will bug me! Thank you all for taking the time to reply. Alkyd (oil based) paints are decent paints, there are working kitchens all over America with 50 year old alkyd coatings on cabinets. For most people alkyd paints will hold up fine in a kitchen. Modern industrial coatings are much better than alkyd paints, even urethane modified waterborne alkyds. However, that doesn’t mean that every consumer will benefit from it. A significant number of four wheel drive vehicle owners never actually put their vehicle in four wheel drive because their vehicle is never put in a situation to need it. Similarly, a paint that will handle more situations is only beneficial if your cabinets see those situations. So rather than say Emerald is not a good cabinet coating, I would say there are far better cabinet coatings widely available. Having said that, get a nice 2k poly and dump a pot of coffee on it and then start crying. The biggest problem I have with someone using Emerald is it seems too tempting to take shortcuts. Emerald has a four hour dry time which is much better than Advance but is still way off the few minutes for industrial coatings. Which is the big advantage of those coatings, for a manufacturer you get a 30 minute flat pack time versus a day or two. There is not really a quality advantage to shop sprayed versus site sprayed, other than how difficult it is to find a good site sprayer. My paint booth cost more than my new truck and I am getting ready to spray the topcoat in my home, because it is going to look better.
