Range hood suggestions? Island hood, stainless, 36"ish
Comments (17)I may have left out some words due to repetition. The number of square feet refers to the entry aperture of the hood. For example, a 36 x 24 hood aperture would be 6 square feet, and would require 6 x 90 = 360 CFM actual, likely needing a blower rated at 540 CFM. Pressure loss not only entails the ducting, but the baffles and the MUA path. Leaky walls are not exactly a free path for air. A leaky house may be sufficient for MUA in practice (given that the blower rating takes the pressure loss into account), but the OP may live where aggressive code enforcement will demand at least a damper in a duct to the outside. The rationale for 90 ft/min is based on ensuring entrainment into baffle gaps that typically are around 50% of the baffle area and have to deal with upward plume velocities of as much as 1.2 m/s. See also the table (Figure 4) on page 9 of the Greenheck Guide available here: https://www.tagengineering.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/KVSApplDesign_catalog.pdf The discussion leading to that table should prove useful for background information. In particular, the Greenheck method vs. the linear feet of hood edge (all the way around for an island hood) method is discussed. (Note commercial cooking rarely is true island type; even located in the middle of a kitchen the hood is connected to the cooktop via a back section. There may also be side skirts on the hood.) Last, let me point out that capture can fail under cross draft conditions, which are almost always worse for island/peninsula configurations than wall configurations....See Moreugly kitchen tiles- need paint color suggestions
Comments (13)Why should we not paint the cabinets in a rental? Weve been living here 19 years and don’t plan on going anywhere. The paint is completely chipped and needs a refresher. I agree that we can’t go crazy with the colors though. Husband is leaning sage for the walls and cream for the cabinets (which is what they are now). It was oil based paint so the cabinets have been sanded and now it all needs to be primed And painted. Waiting on color selection...anyone have a good sage green they like? Seems the green goes pretty well with the tile And is more subtle than the bright blue....See MoreNeed paint color ideas for kitchen and island
Comments (5)I would paint the cabinets in a white that matches in with the counters. I would leave the stone alone. It looks fine. I would however paint the island in a tone that says, you live in a lake house. Maybe a turquoise, or aqua, or a teal. I would also carry that color over into the living room, into pillows, and maybe even a new carpet, and some artwork. You are lucky, you live at a lake, put that lake feeling into your house. A bit beachy....See MoreIn need of suggestions on paint color for my island.
Comments (15)Erica, in your OP you said you wanted to go kinda bold with the island color. You should always choose a color you love and will make you happy everytime you see it. Since you obviously liked the turquoise rug, I figured that would be the way to go. I actually thought that the rug was only temporarily placed there, like the smaller one that you moved under the table. I figured it would go in front of the sectional sofa. I think that rug looks much too big in the walkway behind the sofa. A runner (or nothing) would look better. But, I totally feel your pain about pet hair and dust showing on dark floors. I vacumm and mop mine and then take a picture to admire later because it only lasts five minutes with my two shedding white jack russells! 😖 The soft yellow island matching with the walls might look really beautiful with the white perimeter cabinets and white quartz. I agree to wait until everything is installed to decide on if you want to paint it. I have been watching the old reruns of Julia. I never knew that she was so hilarious! Here is 2littlefishes famous white and yellow kitchen. One of my all time favorites....See MoreRelated Professionals
