I have leathered black granite on my kitchen perimeter with an eased edge and a polished granite with alot of movement and an ogee edge on my island. We found our island granite on craiglist first and had no clue the name of it. It was impossible to match it for the perimeter as it is an unusual stone. I guess I am biased, but I think it looks okay with the two different finishes.

Have you had a chance to see the slabs next to eachother? I would highly recommend that if you can, as it will give you more confidence of whether they'll look good together in the same space. Part of me thinks it will look just fine, especially because they are two different colors. However then another part of me wonders if it will look like you updated one but not all. I think if the entire kitchen looks updated at the same time period then it will look deliberate. I found this on Pinterest it might help- mixing countertops

Yes I love the leathered granite. It has been bulletproof. Some people think the leathered will feel bumpy or have little crevices that catch debris, but it is very easy to wipe down and feels pretty smooth actually. It definitely does have a little texture, but it is not what I’d call bumpy at all. It is hard to capture with a photo, but here is a close up.

It is not Absolute Black. It is called San Benedito or something like that.

Even though over all it reads as black, it actually has alot of sage green flecks and even the random blue inclusions here and there.

My dream was soapstone, but it was not available where I live at the time. The only problem I have had is some white haze around my sink caused by my hard water. But it would probably happen no matter what dark stone I used.

I have leathered Steel Gray on my perimeters and a polished quartzite on the island. I love the combination and both wear well.

I probably would not recommend different finishes on the two different slabs. And FWIW, honed or leathered finishes look better and don't produce "hot spots" like you see in your photo from the the lighting in the room. See if the polished slab comes in a honed version.

I have leathered steel grey granite and love it. It is bullet proof. We cook a lot. Red wine has sat on it, tomato sauce, lemon juice etc and it cleans up easily. No staining, no etching. Doesn’t show fingerprints.

I have leathered Absolute Black granite on my island and polished African Ivory granite on the perimeter. Maple cabinets stained Chestnut. Love it all!

You need to test that quartzite for porosity in person. Don't believe the salesperson please.
