Anele, thanks for posting the mirror. I am going to move my DM's lovely mirror. It breaks my heart to do it but my mismatched mirrors have been a thorn in my side for years. I am now looking for a pair of mirrors to replace the ones I have. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg because there is still this little mustard seed of hope that someday I will find a match to DM's mirror. I will then move it back into my br and pass the other mirrors to one of my children. So please keep the mirrors coming in regards to ideas. Thanks again for our help, I appreciate your efforts!

Well, green comes to mind - lots of it in her accent items, and lots of plants! Do the window treatments have to stay? That would be the one thing that might interfere with choices. You might suggest that she hang them a bit higher, at least the scarf, to balance the height of the wall. I think her mirror needs to come down some, too. It should feel connected to the mantel. I would suggest, since she has gold in the entry and will have yellow in the kitchen, that she might want a warmer green, not a grey-green, for the family room. I think a blue would be too cold; she could do a beige or taupe, but I think she needs more color to balance all the dark furniture in the room. As much as I love red, I don't see it with her furnishings, or in that large a space. The kitchen colors that are splotched seem pretty lemon-y. Looking at the one pix where you can see the hall color and the splotches, I am thinking she might want to soften the kitchen yellow down a bit, more gold and less acid yellow. What colors on those? Is that the route she wants to go in there? If so, I would decide on that color first, then pick a color for the FR since she is less sure of what she wants in that space. How fun to get to help - she must trust your taste, which is a lovely compliment!

I think there are higher end vinyl flooring styles that would give you the look you want and be less prone to odor and stain absorption. I had some great stuff at my last house. I didn't install it, but it looked like tile and wore like iron. Edited to add that I love linoleum and wood flooring, so I would not be saying this unless I really thought there wasn't a better option. But maybe some others who have had linoleum or tile etc. can chime in. My only experience was having vinyl flooring in my last house that I inherited, and being pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, and then having this higher end vinyl tile just installed in my new house and liking it more than I thought I would too because it is somewhat textured so softer on the feet than the older stuff. But I also installed flat vinyl checkerboard flooring on an old clubhouse I was in charge of about ten years ago, and that was simple, inexpensive and looked good in the end. Again, I wanted linoleum, but the vinyl flooring was what was in my price range. I did green and white squares, the tile was lightly marbled.

Walls are painted, bed and mattress have arrived. I've been out of town and slowly making progress while I'm home. Here is a photo of where I am at. Please ignore the bed covering (and the jeans ha)...it's holding me over while I finish up the walls. I'll probably pick one up next week. More pictures to follow as I continue on. I'm thinking an entire wall of wood planks behind bed with a large black and white framed picture above headboard. Thanks for staying interested!
