Painting walls and trim in powder room! What NOT to paint?
I’m optioning to paint my roomy powder bath a mid shade green/gray and want to do the walls and trim in 5e same semi- gloss color. I’m adding some picture molding as well. That said,
- should I paint the ceiling as well? Or leave that white/lighter?
- Also, should I paint the interior side of the door and trim?
I’ve seen it both ways and from a repaint standpoint down the road, I prefer not to paint the door. However, if I don’t paint the door, should I not paint the immediate door trim and leave that same as the door?

To add to the excellent suggestion above: Match the shade of lavender in the tiles -- add a small chandelier and add a fabric sink skirt to cover up the pipes under the sink. Comments (17)I believe that a small powder room is an opportunity to do something special, a little over the top. First off, the room has no window, right? So you always have to put the light on anyway when you go in. To me this just opens the door to dark/rich colors. Since the room is so tiny, you can also paint the ceiling the same color, maybe this would give you a feeling of endless walls. And as far as gloss goes, with a dark color--it just adds glam and makes it even more special. But, I would not go for semi-gloss, that would look like an accident to me (leftover paint, so I'll use this semi-gloss). High gloss, so the walls look wet, that is really cool. You should double check with your painter about how he will get the effect of high gloss, no roller marks. I'm currently struggling with this on my foyer ceiling. And I guess you should keep in mind that if the walls are not perfect, you will see every imperfection with the high gloss. Some people don't care, and others go crazy. Painting the door would complete the drama of the dark color. But I understand the hesitation.
You could paint the ceiling a different color than white so there would be less contrast with the green. Either a neutral or maybe even a metallic. If you do paint it the same color as the walls, you might want to consider using flat finish.
I realize these both have wallpaper but they are pretty great inspiration.

When going glam glossy, you need an impeccable prep - every minute bump/scar in a wall will be highlighted. Semi gloss is not the same as the luxury images created in a multi step lacquer process you find on the internet. $$$$$$$$$$ : )
A bit of gild on the ceiling is nice when painted or papered - can't find a shot with the paint
In answer to the question? Yes paint the door, interior side and casing , or lower the wall sheen a lot, and leave it white. A whole different thing, of course. Your inspo is matte finish on the walls.

Here is my powder bath. Just completed painting…. I’m about to add the picture molding and now the question is; do I put molding around the vanity (as in coming right off the end of the back splash) or space my molding above or below? Or just omit that one bottom square? (If I line the TOP of my Bottom square with the very top of backsplash I can avoid going around both outlets…) I plan to do 4 squares total on the one wall where the toilet and vanity is. Two rectangular long ones and two smaller square on the lower 1/3.
So just omit the bottom right molding square that would be there around vanity?
Or jet pieces of molding off ends of vanity to complete that bottom square?
