Help with paint color for new bedding. Please!
Comments (3)Hello, that bed spread would look terrific with a pale yellow! Maybe Sugar Cookie by Valspar or EK Mustard Seedor Farrow & Ball, "Farrow's Cream". It needs to be a really light yellow, not too yellow though, more cream....See MoreNew bedding idea to bounce off you guys & Linen Source quality?
Comments (22)They make clips for duvets? I always just use safety pins through the seams. Honestly, and it works just fine. Typically use IKEA inserts. I heart duvets, both used as intended, and used empty as a bedspread. Tina - Is a duvet insert the same as a down comforter or down comforter alternative? A duvet cover is the outside. The insert is whatever you want. Some are down, some are down alternative, some are poly, etc. Think of a duvet cover as a slipcover for comforter guts, or an ugly comforter you would to give a facelift to. Now on to some stuff posted earlier... Bedding labeled as "machine washable" does not necessarily mean it is. Sure, you can toss it in and it will probably come out in one piece but I did that once upon a time with my first "real" bedding set (about $550) and ended up with a comforter that looked like a big sock full of melons. The filling balled up terribly, and I absolutely could not get it smooth again. Lumpsville! It wasn't unusable, but it was horribly unappealing. Which is how I happened upon duvets. I ripped the top seam, re-seamed the two layers separately, pulled out the stuffing, added snaps and shoved a cheapo comforter inside. And just in case someone out there doesn't know this, because of all the things the internet is not, phonetic ranks near the top... ...it's "doo-vAy" (rhymes with hooray) not "duv-it" (rhymes with covet)... as I smartly asked for once in a Pier 1 store. :(...See MoreCurtain, rugs, furniture ideas... pretty please?
Comments (12)Janelle - I think the spaces you're showing as inspiration 'work' because... 1) structurally bold but clean accent pieces: the lights, the mirror on the wall, the rug, the chairs at the table paired with 2) complementary colours: the chairs and the table both are subdued and simple in shape, so that bright blue-green and the gray complement one another; in the living room, the hues of brown on the couches draw on the wood accents such as the top of the stools, the coffee table, the railing 3) TEXTURE in the living area: it looks cozy, with the worn leather atop a rug I wanna dig my toes into, with textured pillows to curl up with. Also, I think a dog brings a special je ne sais quoi to any interior decor ;)...See MoreHelps, walls going, new kitchen, ideas please
Comments (15)"Sorry Jan, I thought the forum was for sharing and developing ideas - my mistake." "Aaron -- you are correct. Do not let some people (especially the Pros we've inherited from Houzz).................." I am now on a project that began nine months ago. A small but very complicated cape. At first look/meeting we batted renovation ideas around. Chatted on site for a couple hours. I got the plans and quickly re worked the second floor layout to much improvement, especially the master bath. THEN...with some resistance from my clients i said, we NEED an architect. I do not want to waste time and effort, or your money. Stairs, changes in elevations involving carrying beams , and many more more challenges required an ARCHITECT for the first floor and a new kitchen. The absolutely ridiculous idea that any pro is here to ruin your fun is just that.Ridiculous. Go ahead!! The only difference? The pro knows when its a total waste of time and effort. The Architect is the "short" route. The ideas happen on that site as the arch explores with you, all the ways you'd like the house to work for you. Whether the ideas may be possible is a combination of budget and site and many things none of us can even see. So. Unless you are prone to asking your hairdresser how to surgically remove a very scary spot on your face.............you'd be far better off in the waiting room at the dermatologist, and right away. "Inherit" some common sense as to when you're out of your depth. Most pro's ego's are not so fragile - that they can not recognize when to call for the artillery.Know too, that architects routinely call interior designers. For the same reason....See MoreRelated Professionals
