Strange sound from gas fireplace
Comments (0)Hello, I have researched the forum and cant find a related post. I have a 6 yr. old gas fireplace and have not had any problem with it before. Today, while I was sitting at my desk, I heard a noise that sounded like a motor or a heater trying hard to start. I did not know where it was coming from. It lasted about 30 seconds and stopped. About 10 minutes later, it happened again, stopped and about five minutes later did it again. The last time I was able to sort of hear coming from around the fireplace. I eliminated the baseboard heater possibility. The fireplace was off so I lit it for a while and now the noise has not come back after over 45 minutes. What could have happened? Is it dangerous? Thank you....See MoreFurniture placement for strange layout
Comments (12)@anj_p Great idea to post a floor plan. I should have one in my notebook and can add to my post. yes ,we like the idea of a smaller sofa or love seat across the fire place. We'd like to keep put TV there because we hate TVs over the fireplace, like how its in a small nook and not the center piece of the room. I don't think the rug will fit the other way because of the arches being narrow--but interesting suggestion and perhaps i'll take some measurements and double check. thanks for the thought. @tozmo1 I wish it were one of those vintage chairs but I have a feeling its just from ikea. I actually like the design and its SUPER comfortable and reclines, but i'm not in love with the silver legs/bottom. Feels a big more cheap to me than something fun and vintage. I think we'd probably keep it but i really want to replace the large brown club chairs. They were for a different home and i'm not a fan of them here, plus the leather is beginning to wear away. We aren't sure what to replace them with yet and just starting the looking....See MoreHelp! Furniture placement in a strangely shaped living and dining room
Comments (15)It's easy to become attached to furniture. They probably have many great memories of family dinners and holidays around the table. However, a round table, maybe with leaves, would probably fit that space better. Logically, the dining area should be near the kitchen, and the hutch should be in the dining area. But the hutch will look odd next to the fireplace (as noted above). As hard as it may be, they should get rid of the hutch and get a round table. The reality we all face, is that moving means letting go. If they do that, then they can buy new rugs and furniture, for which you've received good suggestions....See MoreStrange combinations.
Comments (12)Still a larger work triangle than I find acceptable. The step is really bad, and that was pretty much hidden in the first photo. I didn't notice the white subway walls originally, but I don't like those either. The blue wall is one of my favorite elements. I don't think of the room as particularly cold, but then I like for room to look cool rather than warm, especially in my climate. When I see photos of snow, it makes me think of white sand, since I am much more familiar with that than I am with snow, which I have very rarely seen in person....See MoreRelated Professionals
