Planting out root bound Arborvitae?

I bought, small $30. pots of Arborvitae Green Giant just to keep them as a vertical accent in pots all year round. They served their purpose, but they haven't done well this, their third year in their pots. Which is fine, about what I would expect after trying to force a 50ft tree to live in a small pot for 3 years. [g] So I thought of chopping it up to put into some sheet composting, but I am looking to create a screen along one of our lot lines and I already have one Arborvitae that seems to be doing well there and today I had the brainstorm to plant out the two Green Giants and see how they do. Any opinions about possible success in getting them established in the garden?
