Update on warmer climate house hunt

last year

Well I looked at the house today - the one with the tankless water heater and funky master bath. It's very nice as expected. What is really weird is that the listing photos were from the previous owners' listing a couple years ago!! Very strange - mostly furnishings that are entirely different but also the laundry/W/D, light fixtures, and a built-in dining room cabinet that's now in the garage! I really liked the cabinet and the wood floor where the cabinet was is noticeably different than the rest of the room. If the cabinet wasn't damaged when they removed it I would probably have it reinstalled. And the terribly formal light fixtures would have to go and I'm sure the one in the dining room was very expensive but it's just not me. The master bath is actually quite nice and I've gotten used to the idea of a tub in the middle of the room. Overall there's nothing to not like about the property other than the lack of an unfinished basement for cat litter boxes! And sometimes you like a place for what it doesn't have - no deck material (only a stone patio) and no interior pillars. No offense to anyone with pillars - I have them at home - but I'd be happy not to have them in another house.

So tomorrow per DH, I am to go back over there to the adjacent empty lot at peak golf time and see how intrusive that is. Today I was there later in the afternoon and only two golfers went by - a complete non-issue. Cart path is on the other side. I'm sure we will make an offer. Sellers are very motivated as they've found another house and those sellers will not accept their offer unless they've sold their house. So we are all motivated to make it work.

If it does, then I have to quickly pack and get my lake home stuff out of the north woods before there's so much snow and ice on our road and driveway that I can't get it out until spring. We want to stay in our own place this winter rather than the rental I have reserved. We won't put our MN house on the market until spring so we will have until then to figure out how to get rid of all the crap we aren't going to keep. If this deal goes down we will be very busy for the next 7-8 months. Good thing we're retired and have a lot of free time.
