Advice on my small kitchen layout please
Comments (1)I think this essentially what you are going to have to do, with full depth on one side and reduced on the other. However, I think you could gain a lot of counterspace by doing a U shape and perhaps putting the range in the U. You would end up having one blind corner but the other may be able to be accessed from underneath the bar countertop. If you want to retain the galley shape, you have room to put the DW on the other side of the sink and a cabinet base between the DW and range, so you are not standing in front of the DW doing your primary prep. I would recommend a 30 range even in a kitchen this small, particularly if you can do a U. The units in my complex have kitchens this small or smaller and almost All the renovations have switched from a 24" range to a 30". The link is my kitchen of about the same size. I did not do a U but I wanted to change the entry point. My new house has a kitchen the size of yours and I am doing essentially what you are (24" and 18" depths) but in a broken U configuration with the Sink in the U. Comments (5)If it were me, I would try to tie the style of this plot to the style of the rest of the landscaping around the house, depending on whether you have formal looking beds, casual beds, perennial beds, mainly shrubs, or no beds, etc. I can't tell if this is the front or back of the house, but if the front, do you want a formal look, or a casual look? Are any of the plants that are in the plot in good shape and salvageable? Do you like ornamental grasses, and do you want a bed with just grasses? Or do you want perennials, and/or shrubs? And, are you trying to do this on a strict budget, in which case, are you trying to re-arrange the bed using only existing plants. Are there other plants in the rest of the yard that you like that could be split and used here? If you were wanting to re-do the bed using entirely existing plants, then you could go with the ornamental grass theme but keep it simple. I'd probably choose two or three particularly nice plants (including the tall one at the back) and chuck everything else. Then I'd take the very tall one at the back, split it into three or five and put it in the middle to back of the bed in sort of a triangular shape. Then along the front of the bed, I might take one or maybe two of the shorter grasses that I liked, split them into a few plants, and sprinkle them along the front areas of the bed. I love ornamental grasses, but some people prefer color, so this really depends on your preferences....See Moreneed help with kitchen remodel or update, small eat in kitchen
Comments (1)It's not bad! Paint the red out and look at unfinished furniture stores for a banquette. But first go ask the kitchen forum. They will take care of you. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/kitchbath...See Morehelp for a small kitchen update and layout, please!
