Don't do a recessed light above the sink, you will get shadows. Don't do ONLY a recessed light above the sink. I also used pretty glass tile in the showers and it looks really nice when illuminated with 2 lights and dimmed just a bit. Ambiance lighting for when guests use the full bath downstairs! That sounds so nice! Two additional thoughts, not related to the above note: As you plan your lighting, consider your color scheme. If you're going with today's trendy lots-of-white, maybe-some-gray color scheme, light's going to bounce off those stark whites and could feel harsh. On the other hand, if you're using a softer, darker color scheme, those darker colors will "absorb" some of the light; so you'd need to ask whether you'd need more light fixtures. I like to read in the tub, so I definitely plan to have a light of some sort "behind me" for that purpose.

@Kimberly J, You're on the right track. While you've not given us a ceiling height nor details on materials/finishes (all affect lighting design) please consider the following: • Depending on actual pendant choices, your island could handle 3 smaller pendants & your peninsula could handle 1-2 pendants. These might all be complimentary to the pendant style you choose to hang over the table. • Lighting for sink wall & art wall could all be controlled together via dimmer. • Lights for island & for peninsula should be controlled separately, dimmers. Maybe locate the island's pendants dimmer on the island itself. • Before choosing actual recessed light size & final layout, think about the quantity & quality of the light it produces. The Lithonia Wafer LED comes 3", 4" or 6", and the Philips SlimSurface LED comes from 4" to 7". Each is available round or square, and in a few different color temperatures. I suggest using LEDs that are 2700k (a warmer white light like incandescent bulbs). I suggest the attached image for a possible layout. Less recessed lighting than the original. Hello! I wanted some suggestions on what light color to use for kitchen pendants, kitchen spotlights, and under cabinet lights, living room, dining room, etc. For instance, white light, soft white light, and warm light. I have little knowledge at to which color is best for what room or color scheme of the room. I do know that soft white works with most rooms but my living room has a blue accent chair and I feel like warm lights at night changes its color. As you can see in pics, it feels like the lights are too warm? I’m not sure how white lights will look though. Very much in a dilemma right now. The pictures don’t look great due to warm lighting. Everything looks warm colored, if you know what I mean.

Your appliances are stainless. Your sink is stainless? Count that as ONE finish. I would do a stainless faucet, no matter what. Your widest and best selection will be in that finish, and you should shop a local plumbing supply, asap. If you want black accents? I'd use that in lighting and in stools. That leaves cabinet hardware, right? I might like satin nickel best in that scenario. OR.......... Still with only two finishes..... Stainless faucet, matte black cabinet hardware. A TINY bit of black in pendants, and stools as you like. Yup......I rather have ignored oil rubbed bronze door knobs. It is your most limited in selection - as it receded in popularity. It doesn't mean you can't repeat it in a faucet, or even cabinet hardware. It's just less prevalent, and selections will be more limited..
