Bathroom vanity installation problem

Hello. My contractor installed a rectangular blue electrical box in the tile above my medicine cabinet. When the electrician came to install the vanity light, he discovered that the back plate of the light that goes over the electrical box is round. The round back plate of the light doesn't completely cover the corners of the blue box. Neither of the trades is offering a solution and I don't know what to do. Here is a picture of the electrical box that I need to cover completely and again, the back of the vanity light is round (just shy of 5" in diameter) not rectangular. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Your GC goofed so its on him to fix to your satisfaction. That probably means removing that tile, setting a new one and making a round hole. On his dime

Sounds like the easiest solution would be to get a bigger light.

Depending on what kind of top you are using, you might want to attach the faucet to the counter top first. For example if the sink is too bulky towards the bottom, it can be tricky to attach the faucet from underneath. Not a big deal. Pull the new vanity forward (it looks like you have about 8" of room to the casing) and run the plumbing behind it. Bonus, it gives you an extra deep counter. You could then put a shelf 6 or 8 inches up, running the full length of the vanity if you like.

To be difficult, I'd say it would depend on the vanity and how it fits the space. If it was wall to wall and all the way to the floor, I'd install the vanity first and then the wallpaper. If it's a "furniture style" vanity where you have legs on the base and it's not fitted to the surrounding walls, I'd install the wallpaper first. Just know that if you do the wallpaper first, you'll have to remove the vanity if you ever want to change the wallpaper.

How do I install the baseboards to work with this bathroom vanity

We are going to be installing this new bathroom vanity and when I placed it in the bathroom I noticed the the baseboards would interfere with the legs of the vanity. The previous vanity was squared off so the baseboards just ran up against it flush. Any advice or pictures would be a big help. Before installing the new vanity, new wallpaper will be installed. I thought maybe I could have the vanity out far enough for the legs to clear the baseboards but then I realized the backsplash would not be flush against the wall, so I doubt that is the correct way to do this. "The round back plate of the light doesn't completely cover the corners of the blue box."

How much are you missing it by please? If not too much, you could take a belt sander to the errant corners without losing the tab stop function. Or lose the tabs and mount the box with Madison Hangers.

Thats just an old work cut in box. Replace with a round cut in and mud around it (make the GC do this) Black is the only UL listed to hang a light, but youll want to check the weight rating and verify the light is within that spec.

This is the classic GC non electrician doing the work. Doesnt know what kind of box to use and doesnt even bother to strip the jacket back on that wire.

i wouldnt let that guy do anymore electrical work after this.

Is there anything prohibiting them from removing that piece of tile, correcting the junction box, and then installing a new piece of tile? This is what I'd recommend unless there's something serious in the way that would stop the tile from being removed. This should be at their cost.
