What's Under My Siding?
Comments (4)I think there's only one way to find out what's underneath for sure and that's to remove the siding. I'd look for a place that isn't visible to the street, maybe behind some shrubs or near the back of the house and carefully remove a section. Just be prepared to put it back on if what you find isn't to your liking. Depending on how long ago the siding was put on and for what reason it was done you may find rotted boards. Some peeps will not buy a home unless it is sided. They think siding means no maintance....these peeps don't like the idea of getting on a ladder and painting ever so many years or having it hired out.....HOWEVER there's a whole lot of peeps out there who appreciate the look of a well kept old home that's not a cookie cutter of every other one in the area those peeps are going to love the detail even if it does mean painting. Bottom line is you have to do what makes you happy. It's your home....See MoreHouse on lake what color siding and cedar shake
Comments (2)Looks like the roof is the one and only permanent element you have to consider. Can really do whatever you want. Being a lakehouse, I'd consider watery, aqua colors. For example, Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed SW6211 on the body, SW9133 Jasper Stone on the Cedar Shakes. Trim SW7103 Whitetail. With that color palette, you have a lot of choices for the front door. Pull a color from the roof for a wood stain, a bright red or coral. Keeping to contrasts low and calm, and wood-ish, lake-ish, I'd probably do SW 2809 Rookwood Shutter Green on the front door. (it says shutter in the name but it's a good front door color too)...See MoreCedar Siding Options - Coulson, TruCedar, or something else?
Comments (3)Both would work for a modern looking home and both are good products. I suggest reading and understanding the installation procedures for the reasons of maintenance and cost and definitely have the builder do the same. Good luck!...See MoreReplacing cedar siding with brick, stone, or narrow vertical siding
Comments (9)Thank you all for the excellent feedback regarding the siding.. I am definitely going to replace all the landscaping.. Do you have any suggestions for what it should replace it.. Perhaps visuals.. I've tried finding free software that I can upload my picture and play with different ideas but so far no luck...See MoreCara Byerly
