IMO unless the nay connects to something in the kitchen it is the wrong color. I need to see your cabinet color and the actual counter . I would have chosen a navy for the sofa but with no context who knows. It seems you have a MCM vibe going in the DR and LR but the kitchen is more farmhouse with that sink. I need pics of the kitchen please post here in a comment DO NOT start another post. NO white grout please if that color of tile ends up being the one.

Even without seeing pictures I have to agree with Patricia, it doesn't sound like navy is going to be the best choice. Do you have sample tiles at home that you've been looking at? If so, post a picture of those next to your cabinets and counters so we can see what they look like together. If not, that is your next step. Bring home some lighter blues and neutrals as well to see if you like other colors. A navy backsplash is going to be too dark against white cabinets and counters, but a lighter blue would work.

I totally agree, that a navy blue backsplash will look way too harsh with white cabinetry. I think you should choose a much paler blue. Look at some Houzz photos that have white cabinetry with a navy backsplash, and you may reconsider.

It’s a garage conversion remodel. Still in the works. A ton of light. We created the teeniest tiniest powder room that has navy walls and navy in the wallpaper. Upstairs more navy in the vestibule between bedroom and bathroom. Upstairs bathroom has a navy cabinet with brushed brass hardware with white picket tiles and a big round brass mirror. Same white counter as kitchen going in. I must say I love dramatic contrast so that’s why thinking of navy backsplash. Just not sure if matte or glossy. I love the contrast with white grout.

Here is the living space Pottery vibe I’m going for.My dining table is custom so the Layton chairs work but I want navy chairs cause I have grandchildren. It’s not letting me upload from my library for some reason otherwise I’d show you the dining table. It’s blonde oak rectangle to give the illusion of an island. A tiny space. We’re also having Onceatree furniture store in Vancouver custom build a buffet same finish as the dining table. Buffet/ media unit. GE cafe appliances matte white aged brass hardware. Round coffee table also light oak. Painted Sherwin Williams Pure White entire space with a SW in the navy feature wall in bedroom.

Glossy. Easier to keep clean. I don’t think you need more navy in permanent elements. You could put a navy blue tray on your counter or island with gold handles. Definitely no white grout if you go with navy tiles.

You can see the original tile I chose is wrong. It’s going to bug me. It has a purple blue vibe going on with sunlight. It clashes with the navy dining chairs that will be close to the kitchen

My upstairs bathroom floor is laid in herringbone pattern as well.

Ideas. Put large clear glass vase with big branches to bring a bit of green into the kitchen.
