Have: done with plant swap, have lots of extras
Comments (26)I wish there was a Nebraska forum like for the other midwestern states. I'm in Tekamah and have a few shade perennials. Are there any particular types of shade plants you're looking for? I have some astilbe, coral bells (3 kinds), spiderwort, virginia bluebells, beacon silver, jacob's ladder, bleeding heart, lilly of the valley, soapwort, and quite a few others....See MoreHAVE: May night salvia - want purples/yellows or orn grasses

Comments (7)I have 'Purple Rain' in full sun. Liked it so well after the first year that I planned to divide mine but found two more in the fall for a couple of bucks. It grows well and with dead heading it blooms all summer until frost. Even the spent blooms are attractive. Occasionally a leaf or two will get ragged or yellow. Easy to cut it back if it gets too floppy, with new growth and bloom in a short time. The "smokey" look of the blossoms adds a nice contrast to other plants in bloom....See MoreSalvia 'Jean's Purple Passion'
Comments (5)I will confirm that this plant originated in the old Salvia garden at Cabrillo College (the garden had to be moved to make way for a parking lot!) I believe it was thought to be a cross between S. gesneriiflora and S. guaranitica. I'm sorry to report that Jean Coria, for whom this Salvia was named, died last November. She was the heart and soul of the "Salvia Department" at Strybing Arboretum, in San Francisco, for many years. I'm glad I was able to work with her...she is greatly missed!...See Morerusty_blackhaw
