Hang a piece of art and be done IMO no furniture needed at all. Not every space needs filling .

I would suggest extending the green built ins you have flanking the fireplace towards the kitchen filling in the space. It could be 1) more of the same fireplace shelving 2) a sideboard in the same materials as built ins on bottom with storage, with wall space above for art or mirror 3) shallow, v tall, closed cupboards, to match height and style of existing fireplace built ins again, offering shallow but lots of storage. I understand all these options mean $. Good luck. Lots of good suggestions here.

You could leave the space blank, not every space has to be filled. However, if you feel you want something in the space you could do a plant or a piece of art. Here are two visuals to help you with your dilemma:
