how much sun can brunnera take in zone 7A
Comments (6)Up here - brunnera fry in, (a) too much sun and/or (b) conditions too dry. I can't imagine brunnera being very sun tolerant in Zone 7. Perhaps morning and/or evening sun, but if they can't handle afternoon sun up here well, they certainly won't be happy in your stronger sun. Crispy brunnera are not attractive......See MoreIchang Lemon (for zone 7a?)
Comments (4)I would have to agree about talking to Stan.I have been growing an Ichang Lemon south of Atlanta for 2 years now and he gave me great tips.I have also been able to grow satsuma oranges and pumellos from his advice. He owns all kinds of varieties of cold hardy citrus so he can give you real-world advice and expectations.Good luck to you though...See MoreWhat to expect of these Teas in zone 7a:
Comments (2)I had both Monsieur Tillier and Mrs BR Cant. They both get large. I think Mrs BR Cant has a better form and will stay more compact (although still large) while MT will be more of a rambling shape. Same as Susan, I lost most of the above ground growth during the polar vortex, but they grew back fine. Unfortunately I had to dig them up when they tore up my yard. They didn't survive in the pots (probably my fault). I do have 2 new Mrs BR Cants now. Before the polar vortes, my Mrs. BR Cant was about 8 feet wide and 5 feet tall....See MoreSuggestions for which fig tree to plant in Zone 7A/6B
Comments (8)a few years ago I successfully grew Chicago hardy figs in Zone 5. it was my first experience with figs, and they tasted amazing! There are better tasting figs out there and there are a few different flavor profiles you can get with Figs. If in the ground is necessary, get the Chicago hardy, know it will die to the ground each year, and it may not show new growth until May/June from the roots. If you can keep it on the south side of your house, you will likely have even better success. If you are willing to look after pots and move them into the garage or an unheated shed for winter, you could grow a whole slew of different figs....See Morefloraluk2
