They’re pretty cool looking. My impression is MCM. They blend nicely with furniture in room. Would you please post a close up of one of them to provide a bit more detail? Can’t zoom in enough to see base detail. Looks like there’s a difference between them but may be a trick of the sunlight behind them.

I would move them AND the credenza to behind the sofa.

Agree— usually the last place you need lamps is directly in front of a window, and the console isn’t ideal there even without lamps.

But you should try re- configuring and seeing if there’s a great place to use them. Using as a symmetrical pair arrangement on a buffet, console, credenza if you put it in tgd right spot. Or you could have a spot tgat works for just one, as corner table mood lighting or something.

I had to stare a few extra seconds to find the lamps. Quite odd to put them in front of a window. Agree with the user cdr design above that console is in the wrong place.

If we can see other photos of the space, there might be an ideal spot for the console and lamps.

I have lamps in front of and near windows. Where I live, it's not daylight 24 hours a day. And today, even though its daylight here on the W coast, it's dark, very cloudy, raining hard and I have lamps turned on.

I love your room and your furniture, but not those lamps. Yes, they are MCM, but they aren't pleasing to my eye and stick out as wonky in an otherwise beautiful space. Just because something is from the same era doesn't make it attractive nor does it make them work in the space. I think a big statement lamp would look great on this piece of furniture, just not those two lamps.

What do you mean you can't put lamps in front of windows?

I like them, but the placement seems off to me. The lamps are trying to be symmetrical but the background behind them is not. If you can’t put the console elsewhere, perhaps try splitting them up. One to replace the lamp in the left foreground of your photo, and the other remaining on the right side of the console. Then a substantial vase or group of objects for balance on the left side of the console.

Love the lamps. Love them with that credeza but not a fan of the credenza being off center against the window. Center it, put the plants on the credenza and find a place where lamps would be useful. All behind the couch would work as suggested earlier.

Furniture placement is a bit wonky. Please do a quick floor plan showing dimensions and take more photos.

If you put lamps on credenza behind the couch you will need to install a plug in the floor. If you don’t absolutely love them remove for a while and see if they are missed. And agree the credenza needs new placement.

I like the lamps but am not crazy about the placement of the console.

I love them! And I also think they go well with all your furniture and decor. But I would definitely move them I don't know the full layout of the space but moving the console and lamps would make the most sense to me.

I like lamps in front of windows but you do not have space to put the cedenza center on the window. I need to see the whole space and I love the lamps BTW. You have a cabinet on one side of the FP maybe just one lamp on the credenza placed on the other side of the FP then the other lamp in atotally different space Your Eames needs a lamp but not one of those . I love arc lamps in MCM spaces . Please post some more pics of the whole space including the DR Post here in comments DO NOT start another post.

A floor plan would help greatly......or standing at the far end of one wall and getting an entire wall, rather than bits and pieces would also help.

What is the function of the space? Dining and conversation? Is the one door we see the front door?

You have some lovely pieces but most don't fit in the space.

What is on the wall opposite the large window? Nothing?

Without more information on the purpose of the space, I'd place the sofa on the other side of the fireplace, facing the large window.

Then, I'd center the dining table on the large window.

Maybe something else can go on the large wall opposite the window, but can't be sure without measurements.

I love how these two lamps are going to be the cause of redecorating! I can't wait to see what designers come up with. Here's my thoughts.

I think you have one too many case pieces. A few questions first. The door seems to be the only entry into the room, can it be taken off the hinges to just have a doorway? Is the dining table used frequently by four people? I don't think you have the right shaped room to be able to have defined living and dining areas. So I would treat the room as a room for sitting and dining. Like a Parisian front room.

Plan 1. Sofa across from fireplace, china cabinet on wall across from green painting. Move dresser out of room. Squoosh dining table a bit toward china cab. Buffet centered on window.

Large chair or something in corner to right of fireplace. Issue: Will the dining table be in the way of walking in the room. While I love the set, a smaller less bulky set would help both functionally and visually. Also, the sofa back is a big visual as you walk into the room. A thin sofa table or even a textural or colorful textile across the back of the sofa.

Plan 2. Put sofa on wall to right of the fireplace. Buffet on wall opposite green painting. Two chairs opposite sofa with round table in between to balance that side. Which would mean eliminating both the china cabinet and the dresser, but would lighten up the room visually.

Wait...... do I see a corner behind the Eames chair? Is there another entry in the room? If so, show that.

You have a beautiful room to work with. If any item is a non negotiable, start with that. Then on to other things like rug, paint, if willing to paint. wall decor(I would nix the round mirror and put another painting or artwork to balance the green painting, which looks beautiful, but a bit dark for the room. I think the room needs to be balanced as one room, not separate areas, it's too small and square for that.

Oh, and the lamps, which started this whole thing. Send them to me! I love them and if you do as well, they can be incorporated into the design easily. The lamps add character and whimsy to the room, especially with those fabulous shades.

One more thing. The sofa across from the fireplace creates a cozy enclosed sitting space. The sofa perpendicular to the fireplace opens up the room as a whole. Which do you prefer?

I think the cabinet belongs across from the green painting as Gigi suggested. It’s too big to be so close to the door.
